'Call of Duty' and 'One Life to Live' actor Kamar de los Reyes dies at 56

Kamar de los Reyes, a star of the Call of Duty game series and One Life to Live has sadly passed aged 56.

A spokesperson for his family conveyed the heartbreaking news to The Hollywood Reporter on Sunday, revealing that the actor succumbed to his battle with cancer on Saturday night in Los Angeles.

The announcement did not disclose specific details about the type of cancer de los Reyes had been fighting, and it appears the actor had kept his health struggles relatively private.

While de los Reyes is fondly remembered for his enduring portrayal of Antonio Vega on One Life to Live, a role that spanned an impressive 287 episodes, his impact extended beyond soap operas.

Video game enthusiasts will recognize him as the voice behind the notorious villain Raul Menendez in the Call of Duty series.

Voicing Menendez, a central and recurring character, de los Reyes lent his talent to four installments of the "COD" franchise, notably making his mark in the acclaimed Black Ops II, where he became the iconic antagonist for years to come.

The late actor boasted an extensive and diverse career, with notable contributions to various television shows such as Sleepy Hollow, All American, The Rookie, Reed Between the Lines, Promised Land, Four Corners, Valley of the Dolls, and ER. His versatility also shone through in guest appearances on popular series like Law & Order, CSI, and The Mentalist.

Beyond the small screen, de los Reyes graced the silver screen with roles in films such as Nixon, In Search of a Dream, The Cell, Cayo, Salt, LA Apocalypse, Amelia 2.0, and Hot Guys with Guns, among others.

Born on November 8, 1967, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and raised in Las Vegas, de los Reyes came to Los Angeles as a dancer in the film Salsa. His extensive career included notable performances in theater productions, such as George C. Wolfe's Blade to the Heat, and The Tempest.

Beyond his acting career, de los Reyes actively participated in recovery efforts after Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico in 2017.

He is survived by his wife, Sherri Saum, whom he married in 2007, and their three children.
