Cardi B had a lot of smash hits in 2018, and I'm not referring to that time she threw a shoe at Nicki Minaj. Because she missed. Work on your aim, sis! Now, in the chaos that followed, a security guard accidentally elbowed Cardi's forehead, leaving her with a nasty cartoon lump - I'd count that as a smash hit. Also, her singles I Like That, Drip and Be Careful dominated the airwaves.
Earlier today, Cardi B announced she has broken up with Offset, which prompted a lot of snarky "I turn Offset off" jokes. (In Migos' megahit Motorsport, Cardi B memorably brags, "I turn Offset on!") The two got married in a secret ceremony on September 20, 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia. The Migos rapper confirmed the news at the BET Awards, saying, "I thank God, I thank my wife, and you should thank yours." But after just one year of marriage, they're going their separate ways.
"I've been trying to work things out with my baby father for a hot minute now," Cardi B said in an Instagram video. "We're really good friends and you know we're really good business partners. And you know he's always someone that I run to to talk to, and we got a lot of love for each other. But things just haven't been working out between us for a long time, and it's nobody's fault. It's just, like, I guess we grew out of love, but we're not together anymore. I don't know, it might take time to get a divorce. And I'm always gonna have a lot of love for him because he is my daughter's father."
Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar (Cardi's real name) and Kiari Kendrell Cephus (Offset's real name) have one child together, a four-month-old baby girl named Kulture. (That's a reference to Culture, the first Migos album to blow up, and the group's basic mantra.) However, the public hasn't seen the baby yet. According to Entertainment Tonight, Cardi held back on posting a photo becauseĀ "there are so many mean people out there." She admitted, "Sometimes I do want to show people how beautiful and how precious she is... She's so precious... [But] There's a lot of people that have crazy minds, you know. I want to protect her! She's my little buggy."
Well, hours after the news about her split from Offset, the Bodak Yellow rapper uploaded an adorable photo of baby Kulture. Sadly, Kulture isn't wearing "bloody shoes," but it's still pretty cute. Now all her fans devastated by the breakup can cheer up a little bit.
