Tony McFarr, who had been working in the world of film for 20 years, was discovered dead in front of his home in Orlando, Florida back in May.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and first responders stated that he must have been there for a little while as his body had already started decomposing.

At the time, his family, as well as the authorities, had no clue what could have caused his death as he appeared generally "healthy."

But three months later, Florida's Orange County Medical Examiner has revealed what caused the stuntman's sudden death.

According to a report by TMZ, McFarr's death has been credited to an irregular heartbeat and a problem with his heart valves as well as a history of alcohol abuse.

The examiner determined that acute alcohol poisoning and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease played a part in his death, and his autopsy indicated a history of binge drinking, the outlet reported.

It was also concluded that the 47-year-old's blood alcohol levels were almost four times the legal limit when his body was found, coming in at around 0.29 percent.

Overall, the medical examiner classed McFarr's death as an accident.

After the news of his death was initially broken, Chris Pratt took to social media to leave a heartfelt tribute to his former friend and colleague.

"Devastated to hear about the loss of my friend and former stunt double," the actor said in a Stories post published to Instagram on May 17.

"We did several movies together. We golfed, drank whiskey, smoked cigars, and spent endless hours on set," he continued. "I'll never forget his toughness. I remember he took a nasty shot to the head [in the title sequence of Guardians 2] and got several staples in his head – he came right back to work ready to go again. He was an absolute stud.

"He was always a gentleman and professional," Pratt, who worked with McFarr on four films over the course of his career, added before concluding: "He'll be missed. My prayers go out to his friends and family, especially his daughter."
