Cher has deleted one of her tweets and apologized after she called President Donald Trump a "murderer" over his response to the coronavirus outbreak in America.

Cher has often been a vocal critic of the Republican leader, and in an angry Twitter tirade, the iconic pop superstar wrote in a now-deleted tweet:

"trump HAS Entry 2 Every single MASK, Protect, Robe, GLOVE, Mattress, VENTiLATOR, RESPIRATOR, Exam Package, Nationwide GUARDSMAN, SOLDIER FROM Military CORPS OF ENGINEERS, NURSES, DR.’S, TECHS. [sic]"

She added: "He’s Known for months,& IT IS Federal governments Job to get supplies 4 States in National Disasters.Wait… This is The Beginning [sic]"

Cher isn't the first celebrity to have lambasted Trump over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

On March 15, actress Bette Midler, who has also been a longtime critic of the Trump administration, wrote on Twitter: "You know, #Donald says he has tested negative for #Coronavirus. But why should we believe him? He has lied over 16,000 times in the last three years! Why would he not be lying now? [sic]"

And actor John Cusack had some scathing words of his own in response to the President's scalding of an NBC News reporter during a press conference on Friday.

Writing in a tweet alongside a clip of the altercation, the 53-year-old said the President could "rot in hell", before going on to call his comments "unreal".
