Last night, millions of people up and down the country tuned in to watch the 92nd Academy Awards.

The ceremony, which awards those in the film industry for their work over the past year saw South Korean black comedy, Parasite, making history by becoming the first ever foreign language film to win Best Picture. Other highlights include Joaquin Phoenix winning the Best Actor gong for Joker, to no one's surprise.

And as with all awards show ceremonies, there were plenty of hilariously awkward moments - such as the moment Chris Rock and Steve Martin slammed Amazon's Jeff Bezos in the Oscars opening monologue, bringing up his high-profile divorce last year.

Check out the moment Chris Rock and Steve Martin roast Jeff Bezos - aka the wealthiest person in the world - in the Oscars opening monologue:

“Jeff Bezos is so rich that when he cashes a cheque, the bank bounces,” Rock says. “He got divorced and he’s still the richest man in the world.”

He adds: “He watched Marriage Story and thought it was a comedy.”

Rock then turns to Martin to ask if there is anything he wants to add. “No thanks, I like it when my packages arrive on time,” Martin replies in jest.

Check out Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix's inspiring acceptance speech in which he champions veganism:

Bezos, the founder of technology and e-commerce giant Amazon, has an estimated net worth of $115 billion. He is reportedly just ahead of Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who has an estimated worth of $113 billion.

As touched on by Rock in the opening monologue last night, the multi-billionaire managed to hold onto to the top spot even after his divorce settlement with ex-wife Mackenzie Bezos. According to CNN Business, he held onto 75% of the couple's Amazon stock.
