Daniel Curtis Lee is best known for his role as Simon "Cookie" Nelson-Cook in Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.
Recently, he has been offering unwavering support to his former co-star, Tylor Chase, who has been experiencing homelessness in California.
After a viral video sparked concern over Chase's well-being, Lee stepped up to help his longtime friend during a challenging time.
A Heartbreaking Update on Tylor Chase's Struggles
Tylor Chase, best known for portraying Martin Qwerly on the beloved Nickelodeon show, has faced tough times in recent years.
Viral footage of Chase surfaced online, showing him disheveled and living on the streets in Riverside, California.
The video quickly garnered widespread attention, with many locals confirming they'd seen Chase in the area, prompting fans to reach out to his former co-stars for help.
Lee, who is now 34, responded to the video, sharing updates with fans on social media.
In one of his first Instagram clips, Lee revealed that he had recently met with Chase, saying: "So, a lot of people have been reaching out, and seeing if I’m still in touch with Tylor since that last TikTok video where I went to visit him... And, yeah, man, as a matter of fact, I just got off a call with him."
"A lot of you guys are concerned about Tylor Chase this holiday season, and I just wanted to give you an update,” Lee shared.
“Shaun Weiss and his team put a lot of effort into trying to get him into a hospital last night, and I thought it worked. His dad told me it worked, but it turns out he kind of backed out."
Lee also explained the struggles of getting Chase to accept help, saying: "So they couldn’t get him into a car last night, and that’s why they weren’t able to get him to the hospital.”
The Power of Friendship: Daniel Curtis Lee’s Actions Speak Volumes
On the heels of the viral video, many fans reached out to other Ned's Declassified cast members, hoping for some intervention.
One of those was Shaun Weiss, known for his role in The Mighty Ducks, who stepped forward with a heartfelt offer of help.
In an emotional Instagram video posted on December 22, Weiss shared: “I reached out to some friends of mine, and we have a bed for him at a detox, and we have a place for him to go and get long-term treatment.”
Unfortunately, despite Weiss’s best efforts, the night ended in disappointment when Chase was unable to be transported to the facility, leaving him in a tough spot once again.
Weiss added: “All we need to do now is find him. I’m not in Los Angeles, or I would go look for him myself.”
That’s when Daniel Curtis Lee took matters into his own hands.
Lee not only tracked down Chase but also took him out for a meal at a local pizza restaurant.
Their reunion was emotional, with Lee offering encouragement as they ate and talked.
During the meal, Lee FaceTimed their former co-star, Devon Werkheiser, to update him on the situation.
Lee later accompanied Chase to a nearby hotel, offering him a place to stay while they worked on getting him the help he needed.
In one Instagram video, Lee shared a message of reassurance with his friend: "I’m going to come back at holler at you, man, and we’ll talk more about trying to get that situation squared away so we can do rehab or whatever we need to, okay?”
Chase, who appeared visibly grateful, responded: "Okay. Thank you so much. I’m so happy to see you.”
