High-stakes poker player and social media personality Dan Bilzerian is known worldwide for a very specific visual identity. Bilzerian proved this dramatic contrast when he dug into his personal archives and posted a series of throwback images on social media. The old uploads gave followers a rare view of his completely clean-shaven face, triggering widespread double-takes across his entire online audience.
The archived images showcase a young man who looks nothing like the current internet star. One photo shows Bilzerian posing in military gear while holding a tactical firearm, a reference to his past training attempt with the Navy SEALs, a program he ultimately did not finish. Another picture shows a mirror selfie in camouflage fatigue pants, capturing a solemn, smooth-faced youth.
Not all the resurfaced pictures were serious, though. A separate shot features a shirtless, grinning Bilzerian enjoying himself, highlighting just how drastically age and facial hair can alter someone's profile.
Alongside one smooth-faced upload, Bilzerian offered a humorous take on his younger days, captioning the picture back in 2014: “10 yrs ago before I had a beard, when girls just used me for sex and didn't want to date me.”
He capped off the post with the hashtag #IMissThoseDays, signaling that he held fond memories of that chaotic period in his life.
To emphasize the transformation, he paired the smooth throwback with a contemporary shot of his heavy beard.
The stark difference between his old photos and his current image highlights how pivotal that facial hair became to his personal brand. Today, his feeds are filled with luxury yachts, expensive cigars, and high-end alcohol, all centered around his distinct bearded style.
While the occasional clean-shaven throwback photo resurfaces to shock his fan base, the full beard remains a permanent element of his public identity. That recognizable look helped define his image and certainly did not stop him from building a massive global fanbase.
