If you've been online and not stumbled upon a Harry Potter meme, have you even been on the internet?
Enthusiasm for the boy wizard on the web is still high sky even seven years after the last film came out and the memes just keep on coming. One person who has not come across many of them though? Harry Potter himself, actor Daniel Radcliffe.
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote his new Broadway play, The Lifespan of a Fact, the 29-year-old revealed he’s seen a couple humorous viral images floating around online, but doesn’t "seek them out".
Upon receiving this information, there was nothing for the talk show host to do, but show him them, of course - and we're so glad he did, as Daniel's reaction was pure gold.
The first one Jimmy brought out was Hairy Pugger, a pug dressed up in the Hogwarts uniform. Daniel showed the appropriate amount of appreciation for the adorable meme, saying: "What’s not to like? That’s great! Great pun, cute dog, great".
Next up was a picture of Daniel from the very first Potter film, clutching on to the golden snitch during quidditch training, with Jay-Z lyrics over the top. "If you’re having Quidditch problems I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems but a snitch ain’t one," it read.
Daniel completely loved this one, giving it a cheer. But the best was yet to come, with a meme that showed the star off-duty out for lunch, looking rather depressed. It read: "Thinkin' bout all them school loans wondering if your wizardry degree gonna work out".
You're just gonna have to watch his reaction for yourself, because it was too brilliant to miss. Tune in at 1.43 seconds to catch it:
The actor has admitted in the past that the crazy fandom that exists for the film franchise often freaks him out. While on other talk shows, he has reminisced about the lengths that fans used to go to in order to meet him, once claiming that fans in Italy cornered him in the bathroom.
"Italy was crazy," he told Graham Norton."We never did any press there for the [Harry Potter] films so there was ten years pent up energy and when I got there it just exploded. It was incredible."
He continued: "At one point I needed the loo and had to make a 100-yard dash and was immediately followed by a flash mob. I had a Life of Brian moment when I opened the toilet door and there were thousands of people standing outside waiting. It was all very surreal and mad as always."
In addition, when he was just 13 years old, Daniel spoke out about a naked woman who followed him around on one occasion. The teen star said: "I did an interview and we looked outside and there was a girl in a Harry Potter towel and nothing else at all. It was November in New York, so it was freezing. She was out there for 90 minutes holding a sign that said 'Nothing comes between me and Harry Potter'. Later I went to do the David Letterman show and she was there again, but this time she had clothes on."
It all sounds a little too much, if you ask me. Stick to memes on the internet, Daniel.
