David Letterman has been called out for yet another uncomfortable past interview - this time with Jennifer Aniston.

Per news.com.au, the clip in question was taken from an interview the Friends star had with Letterman on the Late Show back in 1998, where she was promoting her upcoming movie, Object of My Affection.

When asking Aniston about her rampant fanbase, the host then segued into an awkward joke in which Letterman approached the actress placed her hair in his mouth.

Take a look at this clip from the interview in question:

However, the practical joke didn't seem to land, leaving Aniston visibly uncomfortable on camera.

After the clip resurfaced on Twitter earlier this week, a number of social media users were quick to voice their displeasure with Letterman's perceived inappropriate behavior.

For instance, one outraged social media user wrote: "OMG! He did that on the air! Today that would be sexual assault!"

Another person chimed in: "And then she had to go around with his saliva on her hair for the rest of the day."

A third person wrote: "and she had to handle it gracefully otherwise they would've said she had no sense of humor or was a b**** or difficult or uptight or moody or party pooper or moody or... [sic]"

A fourth commented: "I didn't know we were talking about, but that's plain creepy and not at all entertaining ..."

Another outraged Twitter user added: "Yeah but c'mon! He is rich and white AND male. It's just locker room predatory behavior.... [sic]"

Someone else wrote: "People ask why this was allowed: It was the 90’s. This was the cultural hell I had to accept as a child, and it was f***ing awful."

Finally, someone else added: "This is super cringy. He’d be gone by the end of the show now. Ew. FWIW, I liked him. But this is indefensible. [sic]"

However, some were willing to defend Letterman, and ask if others were jumping to conclusions.

For instance, one person commented: "Can we hear Jennifer Aniston's side of the story 1st before jumping to any conclusions? Could it be scripted beforehand with Jen's consent?"

Aniston did go on to make several other appearances on Letterman before the show's end.

This controversy comes just a few days after another clip of Letterman, in which he appeared to make Lindsay Lohan cry in a prior interview, also resurfaced on social media.

Per The Metro, the interview in question was conducted on Letterman's talk show back in 2013 but gained more attention after being shared by Twitter user Trey Taylor.

In the video, the acclaimed talk show host can be seen questioning the Freaky Friday actress about her substance abuse problems, asking why she isn't in rehab.

Letterman states: "Aren’t you supposed to be in rehab now? What is on their list? What are they going to work on when you walk through the door?"

A visibly-uncomfortable Lohan replies: "We didn’t discuss this in the pre-interview," before adding: "I’m the happiest when I’m working. This is an opportunity for me to focus on what I love in life. I don’t think it’s a bad thing."

In the video, which has accrued more than 10.6 million views as of the time of writing, Letterman then continues to question Lohan about her drinking habits despite her seeming reluctance to discuss addiction and recovery on-air.

Lohan ends the interview by stating: "We're here for a movie. Let’s stay on the positive."

However, other Twitters suggested that Taylor's post had been edited to paint Letterman in the worst possible light, with one person writing:

"People are pointing out that Letterman made Lohan cry, but OP’s clip edits out what he said that made her tear up. It’s rather deceiving. Here is the end of the segment."
