Dior has stood by Johnny Depp after he was dropped from the Fantastic Beasts franchise following the loss of his libel case against the Sun.

A judge ruled that the Sun had proved what was in the article in question to be "substantially true", though a lawyer for Depp called the ruling "perverse".

Depp has long been the face of Dior's Sauvage cologne, and according to a report cited by Page Six, the brand has no intention of ending its relationship with the 57-year-old.

A Dior ad featuring the actor playing the guitar appeared on a prime time spot during The Great British Bake Off this week.

The Guardian reports that the actor is rumored to have received between $3 and $5 million for his role in the Sauvage advert.

British PR expert Mark Bokowski told the news outlet that it would have been "sensible" for the Brand to drop Depp, but he understood why they chose to continue their relationship with the actor.

"I think it would be sensible for Dior to sever links with Depp," Bokowski said. "Anything can be stopped by pressing a button if they really wanted to."

As per Page Six, the luxury aftershave has found itself in hot water for its decisions before, and after hiring Depp in 2015, Dior was slammed for cultural appropriation in its portrayal of Native Americans in the ads starring the actor.

Dior's decision to stand by the actor puts the brand at odds with Warner Bros., who opted to cut ties with the 57-year-old after he lost his libel case.

After losing his case, Depp took to Instagram to thank fans for their support and reveal that Warner Bros. asked him to step down from his role as Grindewald.

This was followed by Depp's announcement that he would be appealing the decision of the court.

He wrote: "Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone who gifted me their support and loyalty.

"Secondly, I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and I have respected and agreed to that request.

"Finally, I wish to say this.

"The surreal judgement of the court in the UK will not change my fight to tell the truth and I confirm that I plan to appeal.

"My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false.

"My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time."
