Last month, a bizarre new wellness trend swept over social media thanks to influencers like Ra of Earth and Metaphysical Meagan.
Ra, who describes himself as a "Student/Teacher of Human Technology" who aligns "humans to their fullest spectrum self" took to Instagram to inform his 25,000+ follows about "butthole sunning". In a video shared to his profile, Ra states: "In a mere 30 seconds of sunlight on your butthole, you will receive more energy from this electric node than you would in an entire day being outside with your clothes on."
Influencer Metaphysical Meagan concurred with Ra, writing to her 28,000+ Instagram followers:
"My experience with perineum sunning has been profound. I have been practicing this for a few months now. I start my day with 5 minutes of perineum sunning & feel energized for hours. I no longer rely on coffee for energy to start my day because I am getting my energy from the sun. I also am experiencing better sleep and require less sleep due to boost of overall energy. [sic]"
And despite sounding crazy, the wellness trend is starting to catch on - in particular with some celebs. Earlier this week, Avenger's star Josh Brolin revealed to his 2.8 million Instagram followers that he had burned his "pucker hole" trying the trend, writing:
"Tried this perineum sunning that I've been hearing about and my suggestion is DO NOT do it as long as I did. My pucker hole is crazy burned and I was going to spend the day shopping with my family and instead I'm icing and using aloe and burn creams because of the severity of the pain."
Naked Yoga is another wellness trend that is helping more women to feel empowered:Now, international DJ Diplo - who is the man behind hits like 'Lean On' and Sia’s 'Electric Heart' - revealed to his 5.7 million Instagram followers that he has taken up the odd wellness trend.
The 41-year-old DJ and producer shared a very intimate snap of himself sunning his undercarriage on the top of a mountain. He captioned the post: "presenting my peace offering to climate change".
Diplo, real name Thomas Pentz, received a lot of love for the revealing snap, racking up more than 380,000 likes and 7,000 comments.
