When Sabrina Carpenter decided to remix her hit track 'Please Please Please', she brought in an absolute icon — Dolly Parton.

But before the duo hit the studio, the 79-year-old country legend laid down a few ground rules.
Known for her bold performances, edgy lyrics, and t-shirts emblazoned with “Jesus was a Carpenter,” Carpenter wasn’t exactly a clean-cut match for Parton at first glance.
In fact, one of the original lyrics from the song features the line: “I beg you, don’t embarrass me motherf***er.”
In the remix with Parton, however, the line was toned down to: “I beg you, don’t embarrass me like the others.”
And the switch wasn’t random. Speaking to Knox News, Parton revealed she had a heart-to-heart with Carpenter about what she was and wasn’t comfortable with in their collaboration.
“Of course, she can talk a little bad now and then,” Parton said of Carpenter, but she laid down four rules for the collaboration.
Parton said: “Now, I don’t cuss. I don’t make fun of Jesus. I don’t talk bad about God, and I don’t say dirty words, on camera, but known to if I get mad enough.’”
A video posted on Parton’s TikTok shows the two singers laughing together, with Parton joking about Carpenter’s saucier vocabulary. “I couldn't say those words in front of my kids,” she quipped. “We know both versions.”
Fans were instantly obsessed with the unexpected but wholesome collab.
“This is so stinking cute I can’t handle it,” one TikToker gushed.
“My two favorite singers collaborating on one of my favorite songs?!” another wrote.
“They are absolutely twins to me. I would watch if they had a TV show,” added a third.
The remix dropped as part of the deluxe edition of Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet album, released on February 14.
That same day, the duo unveiled a black-and-white music video for their version of 'Please Please Please.'
In it, Carpenter and Parton cruise around in a pickup truck, belting out the lyrics while hauling a man who’s clearly done the pop star dirty. The video has since racked up over 11 million views on YouTube.
Beyond the lyrical edits, Parton only had love for her younger counterpart. “She was so sweet,” the “Jolene” singer said.

Dolly’s collaboration era is still going strong. Over the years, she’s linked up with an eclectic list of artists including Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Norah Jones, and Kesha. As for who she might team up with next?
“Whoever calls me that I like,” she told Knox News. “(And) I’ll say, ‘Yeah, I’ll do that!’”
And it’s not just the big names that get Dolly excited — it’s the freedom to be creative on her terms.
“I love being able to have that freedom. I think freedom is a great word for everybody, anybody, in anything you do. Just having the freedom to work and the freedom to express yourself the way you want to. To do what you want to, go where you want to,” she said.
“I think that’s been the greatest joy is just thinking, ‘Yay, Beyoncé wants to sing with me! She wants to sing my song!’ Yeah, absolutely. Which train do I get on that’s going to get me there the quickest?”
