Dwayne Johnson has finally gained ownership of the name 'The Rock' despite it being synonymous with the star for many years.

Johnson is arguably one of the biggest stars on the planet, with different generations knowing him for different reasons.

Some know him for his hit movies like Jumanji and Moana, while others still see him as their favorite wrestler with signature moves such as the Rock Bottom and the People's Elbow.

Despite being known as The Rock for many years, Johnson never actually owned the name... until now.

The announcement comes as part of a strategic agreement with WWE, where Johnson is set to join the board of TKO Group, the sports and entertainment conglomerate that oversees WWE and UFC, per CBS.

While the specific financial details of the deal remain undisclosed, a statement from TKO revealed that WWE has entered into a comprehensive services and merchandising agreement with Johnson as a crucial element of this collaboration.

In a statement, Johnson said: "I'm very motivated to help continue to globally expand our TKO, WWE, and UFC businesses as the worldwide leaders in sports and entertainment — while proudly representing so many phenomenal athletes and performers who show up every day putting in the hard work with their own two hands to make their dreams come true and deliver for our audiences. I've been there, I'm still there, and this is for them."

"I am thrilled to partner with Dwayne and welcome his immense talent to TKO's Board," stated TKO CEO Ariel Emanuel. "Dwayne brings an incredible track record of creating content and building globally recognized consumer brands, and he will play a key role in realizing our ambitions for TKO."

The Rock moniker traces its roots to Johnson's father, the WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson, the inaugural Black champion in WWE history, alongside his partner Tony Atlas.

While Johnson is a great athlete, actor, and businessman, he's also proven that he's always up for a joke.

To celebrate Christmas this year, Johnson dressed up as an old meme of himself featuring a gold chain draped over a polo neck and a trendy bumbag.

Taking to Instagram, Johnson shared a video showing himself in the legendary ensemble while singing Nat King Cole's classic festive hit, 'The Christmas Song.' The post was captioned: "Merry Christmas, from your keepin’ it [100 emoji] friend. 90’s Rock." He humorously added the hashtag #TappinFannys.
