Elizabeth Chambers has broken her silence on her husband Armie Hammer's "cannibal" scandal, issuing a statement on Instagram.

This comes days after the 38-year-old TV personality's response to a Just Jared Instagram post announcing that Timothée Chalamet, Hammer's Call Me by Your Name co-star, would potentially reunite with the film's director Luca Guadagnino for a new movie.

The movie, which is titled Bones & All, centers around a teenage cannibal. Chambers simply commented, "No. Words".

However, her lengthy Instagram post, shared with her 264,000 followers on February 1, marks the first time she has directly addressed the allegations.

Chambers explained that she was "shocked" and "heartbroken" by the allegations and indicated that there had been a lot that she had been kept in the dark about.

Chambers wrote:

"For weeks, I’ve been trying to process everything that has transpired. I am shocked, heartbroken, and devastated. Heartbreak aside, I am listening, and will continue to listen and educate myself on these delicate matters.

"I didn’t realize how much I didn’t know. I support any victim of assault or abuse and urge anyone who has experienced this pain to seek the help she or he needs to heal.

"At this time, I will not be commenting further on this matter.
My sole focus and attention will continue to be on our children, on my work and on healing during this incredibly difficult time.

"Thank you for all of the love and support, and thank you in advance for your continued kindness, respect, and consideration for our children and me as we find ways to move forward".

The scandal began when alleged screenshots of Hammer's Instagram DMs started surfacing online in which he appeared to describe violent sexual fantasies that involved rape and cannibalism.

The screenshots were shared by an anonymous Instagram account with the handle @houseofeffie.

In one of the messages, the actor allegedly described himself as "100% a cannibal" who desired to "drink your blood".

In another message, Hammer allegedly asked a woman if he could "cut off one of your toes and keep it with me in my pocket so I always had a piece of you in my possession."

After the messages began circulating online, Courtney Vucekovich, an ex-girlfriend of Hammer spoke to Page Six about her relationship with the actor.

She told the outlet: "He said to me he wants to break my rib and barbecue and eat it."

"F**k that was weird, but you never think about it again," she said. "He says, 'I want to take a bite out of you.' If I had a little cut on my hand, he'd like suck it or lick it. That's about as weird as we got."

Another of Hammer's supposed ex-partners, a model by the name of Paige Lorenze, said he wanted to remove her ribs in order to eat them.

She said during the time they dated, he carved his initial into her skin - the letter "A".

The 34-year-old actor has entirely dismissed the damning allegations.

He released a statement to Variety, saying:

"I'm not responding to these bulls**t claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic.

"Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I’m grateful to them for that."

Hammer and Chambers have been married since 2014 and share a daughter Harper Grace, six, and son Ford Armand Douglas, three.

They announced their separation on their respective Instagram accounts in July 2020, explaining in a joint statement:

"Thirteen years as best friends, soulmates, partners, and then parents. It has been an incredible journey, but together, we’ve decided to turn the page and move on from our marriage.

"As we enter into this next chapter, our children and relationship as co-parents and dear friends will remain our priority.

"We understand this news lends itself to public dialogue, but in the interest of our children and our family, we’re asking for privacy, compassion and love during this time."
