This week, Ellen DeGeneres debuted a brand new hairstyle and some fans think it makes her look like wife Portia de Rossi.

Ellen showed off her new 'do in the latest episode of her eponymous talk show, taking to the studio wearing a tasteful white jacket and blue shirt as part of her fresh appearance.

Over on the 63-year-old comedian's official Instagram account, a number of her 92.2 million followers took to the comments of her latest video to praise her haircut, and point out that it makes her closely resemble her wife of 12 years, Arrested Development actress Portia De Rossi.

For example, one Instagram user wrote: "Ur hair style looks like Portia [sic]", while another added: "Ellen! Hold up! Loving the hair! [sic]"

The new hairstyle is certainly a much more positive talking point for Ellen, who has seen her show marred by a series of scandals this year when a number of former members of her staff came forward to slam the show and its "toxic environment".

In an apologetic opening monologue to her audience on the 18th season premiere, Ellen stated:

"I learned that things happened here that never should have happened.

"I take that very seriously and I want to say that I am so sorry to the people who were affected.

"I know that I’m in a position of privilege and power and I realize with that power comes responsibility and I take responsibility for what happens at my show."

Ellen addressed the controversy in this monologue:

She added:

"This is me and my intention is always to be the best person I can be. And if I’ve ever let someone down, if I’ve hurt their feelings, I’m so sorry for that.

"If that’s ever the case, I’ve let myself down. Because I always try to grow as a person, I look at everything that comes into my life as an opportunity to learn."

When the premiere of the 18th season of The Ellen Show aired on Monday, September 21, it boasted the highest ratings since 2016, and, per The New York Post, posted an overnight Nielsen household rating of 1.9.
