Elon Musk has claimed that The Simpsons "predicted" his takeover of Twitter during a 2015 episode.

Yes, another day, another "The Simpsons predicted..." story.

There have been many bold claims that the popular animated US sitcom has had the ability to predict some of the world's biggest events - from the Metaverse to Game of Thrones storylines and even to billionaire space flights.

However, after 34 seasons and 737 episodes (as of this writing), it can only be expected that the wacky happenings in Springfield soon find their way into the real world.

Nevertheless, billionaire Elon Musk has revealed that he believes the show "predicted" his $44 billion takeover of the social media giant Twitter in an episode seven years ago.

Taking to his personal Twitter page, Musk wrote: "Simpson’s predicts I buy Twitter S26E12", alongside a screenshot from the episode.

For those unaware, the episode in question is called 'The Musk Who Fell to Earth'.

In one scene, Lisa Simpson can be seen feeding seen a few birds that had gathered in her birdhouse. A sign on the birdhouse reads "Home Tweet Home".

A bald eagle then appears, before swooping down and stealing away two of the small birds in its talons. The eagle then devours the birds in front of the family.

Watch the scene unfold below:

After Homer is able to befriend the eagle, it begins to fly away - before being incinerated in the flames from a descending space shuttle carrying Musk, whom Lisa proclaims is "possibly the greatest living inventor".

Thanks to Musk's intervention, Lisa's birdhouse is then upgraded to a super futuristic feeder, sporting high-end features like a satellite dish and solar panels.

"I guess humanity wants its change one birdhouse at a time," Lisa then says.

As of this writing, Musk's tweet has amassed more than 270,000 likes and over 19,000 retweets, with one person joking: "Personally, I think Elon bought Twitter because he saw it on an episode of The Simpsons. Change my mind."

Ever since Musk's takeover of the social media platform, the 51-year-old has introduced an $8-per-month fee for verification ticks, reinstated Donald Trump's previously suspended account, and reportedly let go up to 50% of the company's employees.
