Hollywood icon Tommy Lee Jones is grieving the sudden death of his daughter, Victoria Kafka Jones, who was found unresponsive inside a luxury San Francisco hotel just hours into 2026.
She was 34 years old.
Emergency services were called to the Fairmont San Francisco in the early morning of January 1 after a guest discovered Victoria lying on the 14th floor and initially mistook her for someone who had too much to drink.
But when hotel staff arrived, they quickly realized something was seriously wrong.
Despite desperate attempts to revive her with CPR, Victoria was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency crews responded quickly, but it was too late
Paramedics were dispatched at exactly 2:52AM after hotel employees raised the alarm. Police officers from the San Francisco Police Department arrived shortly after, responding to a report of a deceased person at a hotel on the 900 block of Mason Street.
“At the scene, officers met with medics, who declared the adult female deceased. The Medical Examiner arrived on scene and conducted an investigation,” a police spokesperson confirmed.
The statement also noted the incident occurred “on 1/1/26 at approximately 3:14AM.”
There were no signs of foul play, trauma, or drug paraphernalia found at the scene, and according to a source cited by the Daily Mail, “There were also no signs that Victoria may have taken her own life.”
It’s currently unclear whether Victoria had been staying at the hotel or why she was on the 14th floor.
Authorities are now urging anyone with information to contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or to text TIP411, starting the message with “SFPD.”
Victoria’s early acting career and famous family ties
Born on September 3, 1991, Victoria was the daughter of Tommy Lee Jones and his second wife, photographer Kimberlea Cloughley. The couple were married from 1981 to 1996 and also share a son, Austin, now 42.
Victoria stepped into the spotlight early in life, making her film debut in 2002 with a minor role in Men in Black II, which starred her father and Will Smith.
She later appeared in a 2005 episode of One Tree Hill and took on a part in The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada - a Western directed by Jones himself.
Though she ultimately chose a life away from acting, Victoria continued to support her father at red carpet events, including the 2017 premiere of Just Getting Started and the Tokyo International Film Festival, where Jones served as president of the jury.
Speaking about directing his daughter, Jones once said: “She’s a good actress, has her SAG card, speaks impeccable Spanish. When she was a baby, I told Leticia, her nurse, to speak to her in Spanish.”
He also shared a more humorous story from their time on set together: “She had to get up at 5:00AM for her part. One morning, she wouldn’t get out of bed. I said: ‘Honey, this is work.’ But she wouldn’t budge.”
“So I fired her,” Jones recalled. “Then, without telling me, the production staff went over and woke her and rushed her out to the set just in time.”
Fans and loved ones share their heartbreak
The news of Victoria’s death was first reported by TMZ and later confirmed by the Daily Mail. Representatives for Tommy Lee Jones, the Fairmont San Francisco, and the San Francisco Police Department have been contacted for comment.
Social media quickly filled with messages of support and sorrow for the actor and his family.
One person wrote: “This is horrible. Prayers to the Jones' family.” Another shared: “Devastating news when a parent loses their child. My heart goes out to Tommy Lee Jones. Prayers for him and his family for strength and comfort.”
Victoria is survived by her father, Tommy Lee Jones, her mother, Kimberlea Cloughley, and her older brother, Austin.
