Yesterday, many of us paid tribute to all the wonderful moms out there, as we celebrated Mother's Day. And whether we were together or apart, many of us took to social media to share a heartwarming message to our own moms.

Even Thor star Chris Hemsworth, 36, took to social media honor his mom, Leonie, on Mother’s Day.

Check out the trailer to Hemsworth new Netflix movie Extraction:

Posing alongside his mom - a schoolteacher based in Melbourne - and his wife Elsa Pataky, The Extraction star captioned the sweet image: "Happy mother’s days to all the incredible mums out there we salute you!! Xoxo"

However, it seems that Hemsworth's 41.9 million followers couldn't actually believe they were looking at the star's mom.

Since posting the pic on Sunday, it has amassed over 4.3 million likes and 9,200 comments, many of whom in awe at Leonie's youthful appearance.

One Instagram user with the handle 'smuguire' commented: "Your mum and your wife look the same age and that is NOT a dig at your babe wife, sorry but where does your mother hide the painting that ages instead of her THIS IS WITCHCRAFT!!!!"

And we have to agree. Spanish model and actress Pataky already looks young for 43, and the pair do in fact look like sisters.

Another person concurred, writing: "Your mom looks young wth [what the heck]".

"This is your mom in the middle?? Did she have you at 12?? Lol! So youthful looking. She looks like Margot Robbie a bit," joked user 'makeupcrayz'.

One commenter couldn't get over the family's remarkable genetics, writing: "Now I know why you are so handsome".

What's even more shocking is that news.com.au reports that Leonie is, in fact, 60 years old!

And this is not the first time Hemsworth's parents have attracted attention on his social media.

Back in 2018, the Avengers star shared a snap on Instagram of himself with Leonie and his dad, Craig, at the Commonwealth Games.

In the comments section of that post, one person write: "Wow! Your mum looks more like your sister! Good genes!"

Hemsworth - along with brothers Liam, 30, and Luke, 38 - has been very open about his close bond with his parents. Back in January 2019, he told Men's Health that he was driven to pursue a career in acting because he wanted to pay off his parents' house. He said in the interview:

"One of the first things I wanted to do when I got any money was pay my parents' house off. I'd asked Dad once when he thought he'd pay it off and he said, 'Honestly, probably never'.

"I was like, 'Do this for the house, think of reasons other than yourself.'"
