Frankie Muniz's estranged wife posts cryptic message as Malcolm in the Middle star claims he's hit 'rock bottom'
Frankie Muniz recently opened up about navigating a painful personal struggle, prompting a cryptic reaction online from his estranged wife, Paige Price.
The former child star, widely known for his leading role in Malcolm in the Middle, took to social media on Friday to share a vulnerable update regarding his current mental state.
Hours later, Price shared a message regarding perspective, pointing to the delicate dynamic between the former couple as they navigate their ongoing marital separation.
The couple, who tied the knot in February 2020 after a decade together, announced their decision to end their marriage in July. While both stated their commitment to co-parenting their five-year-old son, Mauz, recent social media activity shows the emotional weight of the transition.
Muniz reflects on personal struggles
In his heartfelt social media update, Muniz described recent weeks as particularly challenging.
"The last 6 weeks of my life have been a nightmare I’m praying to wake up from. Everything [has] felt heavy, unclear, and like it was falling apart at the same time," the actor-turned-stock car racing driver wrote.
He went on to describe the period as a season he "wouldn’t wish" on anyone.
Despite the difficulty, Muniz stated that having "nowhere to hide" forced him to evaluate his life honestly.
He explained that the period provided an opportunity to sit with himself, do real self-reflection, and identify areas that need work to become a better version of himself rather than just displaying a polished image to the public.
Acknowledging that he felt he had hit "rock bottom," Muniz expressed hope that the low point would ultimately lead to personal growth. He wrote that he chooses to treat the current phase as a foundation rather than a finish line, adding a supportive note for followers facing similar struggles: "If you’re in a low place right now too, you’re not broken. You’re being rebuilt. Let’s keep going!"
Price responds with a lesson on perspective
Shortly after Muniz shared his reflection, Price posted an Instagram Story that seemed to address the situation.
Her update featured a short video of herself creating a wax seal, accompanied by a caption reflecting on how individual viewpoints shape reality.
"Life is all about perspective. If you ask the grass, the zebra is the monster and the lion is the protector," Price wrote.
The post included an acoustic rendition of the Goo Goo Dolls track 'Iris,' featuring lyrics focused on feeling misunderstood by the world.
While Price did not explicitly mention her estranged husband in the video, the timing of her message followed shortly after his public statements.
The social media exchange comes two months after the duo publicly announced their separation.
Although Muniz initially deleted his original divorce announcement following online backlash regarding a family video included in the post, Price publicly defended him at the time, confirming that they remained focused on supporting one another as co-parents.
