'Friends' cast reunite for heartbreaking act to honor late Matthew Perry

The cast of Friends has reunited to honor their late co-star Matthew Perry with a sweet act amid the holiday season.

Fans were rocked by the death of Perry, who was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his home in the Pacific Palisades on October 28, 2023.

Despite medical intervention, the actor was tragically pronounced dead on the same day at 4.17PM.

News of his passing at 54 years old left fans and his co-stars devastated, with his cause of death later being confirmed as due to the acute effects of ketamine, with the actor having been open about his struggles with addiction throughout his life.

Since Perry's death, his former Friends castmates have often honored his legacy, and David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and Jennifer Aniston have once again come together to do something special in his memory.

The cast came together for a charity fundraiser in partnership with the Matthew Perry Foundation, where they signed pieces of artwork.

The stars each signed a piece of artwork commissioned by the charity in photos shared by the organization’s official Instagram account on Friday.

The foundation wrote in the caption: "Exciting news! The cast has teamed up with @soundwaves_art and artist Tim Wakefield for a very special collection of artwork this holiday season.

"Tim has transformed the actual soundwaves of the Friends theme song into these beautiful designs each inspired by a different character, and each cast member has autographed their own small run of artworks."

Making sure Perry wasn't left out, it added: "And in collaboration with the estate of @mattyperry4 we have produced a very limited edition of artworks embossed with Matthew's official signature.

"All profits will be supporting charities chosen by the cast, including the @MatthewPerryFoundation and their work helping those struggling with the disease of addiction."

The signed prints begin at $600 while unsigned ones are $100, and those with Perry's embossed signature start at $450.

The proceeds will go to support the Matthew Perry Foundation, which helps people battling addiction, as well as other charities chosen by the cast.

Perry had been open about his long struggles with addiction as well as his dedication to helping others battling the same issues.

Aniston opened up about how they'd done "everything [they] could" to help Perry in his low points, telling Vanity Fair after his death: "It almost felt like we’d been mourning Matthew for a long time because his battle with that disease was a really hard one for him to fight.

"As hard as it was for all of us and for the fans, there’s a part of me that thinks this is better,” she admitted, as he is finally "out of that pain."

A year before his death, Perry had opened up about how he hoped to be remembered for his work helping addicts over and above anything else he'd done in his life and career.

He said in a podcast interview with Tom Power at the time: "I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in my life but the best thing about me, bar none, is that if an alcoholic or drug addict comes up to me and says, ‘Will you help me?’ I will always say ‘Yes, I know how to do that. I will do that for you, even if I can’t always do it for myself.’

"So I do that, whenever I can. In groups, or one on one."
