A statement from her representation read: "Last night, the world lost an international treasure, and I lost a dear friend and beloved client. She died peacefully in Paris."

Born in Japan to British parents, De Havilland made her first appearance on the big screen in the 1935 movie Alibi Ike.

Her second Oscar came three years later, for a captivating performance in The Heiress.

At the time of her death, Havilland was the oldest living performer to have won an Oscar.

Throughout her storied career, De Havilland appeared in 49 feature movies, cementing her legacy as one of the most influential actresses of the Golden Age of Hollywood Cinema.
