Gordon Ramsay has been met with utter bafflement from fans and onlookers alike, after news emerged that one of the burgers at the new London location of Gordon Ramsay Burger will set punters back £80 (roughly $106).
The Michelin-starred celebrity chef has provoked quite a response to the price point of his new restaurant - which is to be located inside luxury department store Harrods - after reports emerged of the eye watering cost of the Waygu burger.
A statement on the Harrods website regarding the new opening reads in part:
Watch Gordon Ramsay's hilarious reaction to his daughter going on a date:"A taste of America, without the trans-Atlantic trip; the first Gordon Ramsay Burger restaurant outside of Las Vegas has touched down in Knightsbridge, and as you’d expect from Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay, these are not your average quarter-pounders.
"A bespoke blend of chuck, brisket and rib cap, the 100% UK heritage beef patties are cooked to perfection on an open flame and – just before they’re taken off the grill – brushed with Ivy House Farm butter for an extra hit of nutty sweetness."
The description goes on to promise indulgent ingredients such as, "fresh mozzarella, roasted jalapeños, avocado and roasted tomatoes" in the Hell's Kitchen Burger, and "melting chèvre, port aïoli and foie gras" in the Foie Burger.
Naturally, some fans have been left dismayed by reports of the sky-high price point and have taken to Twitter to air their thoughts on the matter.
"So..... *The Gordon Ramsay burger* promises an “experience like no other”, as the Wagyu burger includes a beef patty, seared Wagyu sirloin, truffle Pecorino cheese, cep mayonnaise and fresh black truffle. Not a bad price at 80 quid" One Twitter user wrote.
Another commenter replied to this tweet, saying "Without frees? Really? Lol. I was just talking to my wife: People who want to see what a Ramsay burger would take like, could come in and get one for 100+ dollars; it doesn't even need to be good, there are enough people curious to come one time, and he would still make money. [sic]"
"[Gordon] ramsay's silly burgers" another user quipped.
"Gordon Ramsay’s exclusive new Harrods venture charging £80 for a burger - Evening Standard....Not sure this will be worth the price tag. I had a delicious wagyu burger from @TrenchmoreFarm @SussexWagyu didn’t pay that price!" Another commenter added.
"Will people really go .. if yes "i can't wait to watch'em eating that £80 burger" with my £2 delicious burger in my hand." Another Twitter user wrote.
What do you think? Will you be forking out to pay Ramsay's new restaurant location a visit?
