Grimes has asked her partner, Elon Musk, to "stop" and turn off his phone after he faced backlash on social media after the Tesla CEO tweeted: "pronouns suck".
At the time of writing, Musk's tweet is still visible on his account.
Grimes, who shares a child with the Tesla CEO, denounced Musk's remark in a since-deleted tweet, which read:
"I love you but please turn off ur phone or give me a dall [sic] I cannot support hate. Please stop this. I know this isn’t your heart."
Earlier, the 49-year-old took to Twitter to write, "Twitter sucks."
Musk and Grimes welcomed their first child, a son, called X AE A-XII, in May this year.
Prior to giving birth, the Oblivion singer disclosed that she did not want to reveal the gender of their child, per The Independent.
"I don’t want to say the gender of the baby… because I feel like their privacy should be protected,” Grimes said, according to People. “I don’t think they can consent to being famous or being in public," she said, noting that she doesn't want to "gender them" in case that is not how the child chooses to identify.
"And I don’t want to gender them in case that’s not how they feel in their life. I don’t know, I just feel like it doesn’t need to be known," she added.
However, Grimes and Musk's choice of name prompted much debate on social media, with some publications at the time alleging that it was illegal in certain places.

PEOPLE has clarified that while the name isn't technically illegal, it would not be accepted as valid by the state of California. The publication quotes family law attorney, David Glass, as saying that a birth certificate filled out "with the odd numbers, dashes and symbols, it will be submitted and then rejected and they’ll be asked to submit it again".
"In California, you can only use the ‘26 characters’ of the English language in your baby name," Glass continued. "Thus, you can’t have numbers, Roman numerals, accents, umlauts or other symbols or emojis. Although an apostrophe, for a name like ‘O’Connor,’ is acceptable... They have an opportunity to appeal the rejection of the birth certificate application but it’s unlikely that it will be granted because, again, California... has been struggling with using symbols."
Musk and Grimes have been together for over two years, having made their public debut as a couple at the 2018 Met Gala. This year's Met Gala was due to take place last night but was canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
