On Thursday (October 10), the 77-year-old Grammy Award winner made an appearance at the UK premiere of his new documentary, Never Too Late.
The new doc will be released in movie theaters next month for a brief period before streaming on Disney+ on December 13.
Ironically, nobody told John it was "never too late" to change before stepping out on the red carpet, as one particular "fashion" accessory has left social media users "grossed" out.
You see, on October 1, the 'Rocket Man' singer also appeared at the New York Film Festival to speak about his new documentary. Addressing the audience, Elton opened up about his health battles in recent years - and revealed the number of body parts he's had removed/replaced.
"To be honest with you, there’s not much of me left," he joked, cited by People. "I don’t have tonsils, adenoids, or an appendix."
He went on: "I don’t have a prostate. I don’t have a right hip, or a left knee or a right knee. In fact, the only thing left to me is my left hip... But I’m still here. And I can't thank you [enough], you’re the people that made me."
But despite missing his kneecaps, it appears that the singer wasn't keen on the doctors throwing them out as medical waste, as Elton opted to proudly wear one of his kneecaps around his neck as a pendant, per the New York Post.

I mean... I'm all for doing everything we can to beat fast fashion. But... a kneecap?
After photos of the star were posted on social media, people couldn't help but voice their disbelief.
"Eww," one X user tweeted, with a second adding: "Gross."
Another added: "I had to read that twice to make sure I got it right."
But one fan praised the bold move, writing: "Wearing his old kneecap as a necklace? That’s pure Elton—fearlessly flaunting his eccentricity and resilience. His life’s a rock anthem of survival."
A fourth tweeted: "Creepy but kinda awesome because it’s Elton."
The unique accessory was just one of many highlights from the event.
John was accompanied by his husband, David Furnish, who also directed the documentary.
Furnish shared his experience of making the film, admitting the emotional toll it took on him. "There are moments making the film where it started to get too much for me. I started to be carrying a lot of anxiety and a lot of emotion," Furnish told Hello! at the UK premiere. "It's a responsibility — but for me — it's also a joy because I know a side of Elton that the rest of the world doesn't know.
"And it was really important to us that we captured his authentic voice and his heart really, really, honestly, and I feel we’ve done that."

Furnish also opened up about John's health struggles, including his candid discussions about mortality. "[Elton] talks quite openly about his mortality. That's not an easy thing to hear," Furnish said. "And you're really taking his vulnerability and you're putting it up on the screen for people to see."
Earlier this year, John announced his retirement from touring to spend more time with his family - including sons Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11.
It's a bittersweet decision for fans, but it's clear that his health and well-being are his top priorities.
