Gypsy Rose Blanchard has enjoyed her first Christmas since being released from prison, marking the occasion a couple of days late with her family.

The now-32-year-old was released from prison after serving seven years for her role in the 2015 murder of her mother, Clauddine 'Dee Dee' Blanchard.

Dee Dee had been brutally stabbed to death by her daughter's then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn after Gypsy Rose allegedly let him into their home.

Gypsy Rose and Dee Dee had a complicated relationship after the mother had falsely claimed her daughter had suffered from leukemia, muscular dystrophy, and other serious illnesses, making her undergo medical interventions and be in a wheelchair despite being able to walk.

Gypsy Rose, who was a victim of Munchausen by Proxy, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, while her boyfriend was given life behind bars for the killing.

She has now been freed early after spending seven years in prison, with news of her release being confirmed by TMZ on December 28.

Gypsy Rose has already been making the most of her new-found freedom by setting up her own Instagram account and sharing her "first selfie of freedom" since leaving prison.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, she also enjoyed her first family Christmas in almost a decade - albeit a few days late - as she marked the occasion with her family and friends.

The outlet reports that Gypsy Rose was joined by her dad Rod and her stepmom Kristy, who joined her at a secret safehouse outside Kansas City on Thursday evening, less than 24 hours after she was released from prison in Missouri.

She is staying at the rented property with her husband Ryan Anderson, 36, who is a teacher, and was joined by her family and a handful of close friends who came with presents for her.

The emotional reunion was also reportedly captured by a TV crew who are said to be filming a project about her life after incarceration.

Her stepmother Kristy had last week told NewsNation how much the family was looking forward to their first Christmas with Gypsy Rose since she was jailed.

She said: "We're going to do Christmas. I've got a Christmas tree, I've got her so many gifts. I went overboard, actually.

"Oh, we're also doing a spa day … we're going to go get her pedicure, manicure, facial, haircut, colored if she wants, you know, the works, bring her shopping. She can't wait."

Gypsy Rose wasted no time getting back to shopping as she was also seen trying on trainers at Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse.

She is also reportedly hoping to get tickets to Sunday's Kansas City Chiefs game in the hopes of meeting Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

Gypsy Rose will also no doubt be spending time with her husband Ryan, whom she married in June 2022 while incarcerated.

How the couple first connected from prison remains unclear, according to reports from Hollywood Life, but the couple had almost parted ways just months later.

In November 2022, Gypsy Rose allegedly informed her family about her intention to file for an annulment, citing that they were "in different places in our lives" in a heartfelt letter, per In Touch.

She is said to have written at the time: "It is with a heavy heart that this morning I made a decision to go ahead and file for annulment and end my marriage with Ryan."

However, despite the announcement, the legal paperwork for the annulment was never filed, and she confirmed in mid-2023 that they had decided to stay together.

The revelation came amid a heated exchange with former Bachelorette star Josh Seiter, who attempted to flirt with Gypsy via email. She made it clear she was happily married, writing: "I am a married woman, my [husband’s] name is Ryan Anderson, and we do NOT appreciate crazy people like you spreading lies. … I may look cute, but I have a smart-a** mouth, and I’m not afraid to tell you to go f**k yourself."

According to People, Gypsy intends to move in with Ryan now that she has been released from prison.
