On Monday (July 15), the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby kicked off with a heavily criticized performance of 'The Star-Spangled Banner' courtesy of Andress.

The event, which was held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, saw the star take to the stage wearing a baseball tee in the hopes of delivering a stellar performance before the players took to the pitch.

However, let's just say, it didn't quite to go plan.

Many took to social media to slam the "terrible" singer.

"Holy ….. What was that rendition of the Star Spangled Banner?? Country 'singer' Ingrid Andress (no idea who she is) just did one of the worst jobs singing the National Anthem by a 'professional' singer I have ever witnessed. That was terrible," wrote one user.

"That Ingrid Andress national anthem might have been the worst thing to happen in America in the last 48 hours #brutal," penned another.

A third even posted a screenshot of Andress' wiki page, which has now been edited to include: "She is also known for butchering the national anthem before the 2024 MLB all-star game Homerun Derby."

And this person even compared the performance to Fergie's iconically bad one from 2018.

"Fergie watching Ingrid Andress claim her crown for worst national anthem of all time," they wrote alongside a video meme.

Under the YouTube video of the performance, we saw a similar reaction.

"Legend has it, she’s still searching for the right key," wrote one user, while another added: "Can we PLEASE be done with singing in cursive now?! This has to be the nail in the coffin."

And this user was also less-than-impressed: "This is absolutely the version that fits 2024 America...100%."

Yikes.

In the wake of the drama, Andress has now issued a statement apologizing to fans, as well as the MLB, for her shocking performance.

“I’m not gonna bulls**t y’all, I was drunk last night,” she wrote in a statement posted to X, formerly Twitter. “I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need.

"That was not me last night," the statement continued. “I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is I hear it’s super fun.”

She signed the note “xo, Ingrid."

Andress was born in Southfield, Michigan, and raised in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. She currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee, where she is making a name for herself in the music industry.

She has two studio albums; 2020’s 'Lady Like' and 2022’s 'Good Person', as well as two singles that have reached the Billboard Hot 100; 'More Hearts Than Mine' and 'Wishful Drinking'.

She also boasts an impressive co-writing track list, writing songs like the 2017 Charli xcx tune 'Boys' and Bebe Rexha’s 'Girl in the Mirror.'

We hope that Andress manages to find some solace in rehab and come back stronger than ever.
