Isla Fisher makes candid confession about Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s divorce

Isla Fisher has made a candid confession following the news of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s separation.

Speaking on the Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade podcast on Thursday, October 23, the 49-year-old Now You See Me: Now You Don’t actress described her reaction to the longtime couple’s split.

The episode, titled “Isla Fisher Has The Best Friend Group,” opened with Fisher joking about an awkward text exchange involving host David Spade and one of her friends.

After sharing a laugh, co-host Dana Carvey and Fisher discussed her own experiences with love and marriage.

“I’m really, really, really shocked,” Fisher admitted when asked about her fellow Australian actress, 58.

She added that she had left a message for Kidman but had not yet connected, noting, “I don’t really wanna comment on that because there are children involved.”

Fisher reflects on her own divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen

Fisher also opened up about her personal experience with marriage.

“I've been married for 23 years. I only just got... separated, divorced,” she said, referencing her split from Sacha Baron Cohen, which was finalized in June.

The couple first met in 2001, married in Paris in 2010, and announced their separation in 2024. Fisher’s candid remarks provided context for her empathy toward Kidman, who is navigating her own marital challenges.

Kidman and Urban’s marriage and custody details

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were married in June 2006 and share daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. Kidman has requested to be the primary residential parent in the custody agreement as part of the divorce proceedings, PEOPLE reported at the time.

Sources noted that the couple had been living separately for some time, making the split less of a surprise to those close to them.

“People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable,” an insider shared.

Despite the emotional strain, Kidman has had strong support from her family.

“Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another,” Page Six detailed.

“She didn’t want this,” the insider added, noting Kidman had been making efforts to save the marriage before ultimately filing for divorce in Nashville, where the couple has lived since 2007.

Focusing on positivity after divorce: Kidman’s outlook

Since the split, Kidman has focused on the positive aspects of her life. Following a trip to Europe, the Oscar-winning actress is spending time with her family and immersing herself in work.

“She isn’t someone who dwells on regrets, she believes everything happens for a reason,” a source told PEOPLE, emphasizing Kidman’s commitment to maintaining a positive outlook despite the challenges of her separation.
