Jameela Jamil has claimed she "almost killed" herself because of comments made by Piers Morgan.
The British star, 35, took to social media to open up about her experiences after news broke that the presenter had stepped down from Good Morning Britain.
Reacting to the news, the feminist activist tweeted that she "almost killed myself a year ago because of Piers Morgan’s relentless campaign of lies and hatred against me last February".
She added: "I’m glad I’m still alive today for many reasons. But watching him leave GMB today is right up there and has me feeling [gif of Jameela flipping her hair on a red carpet]."
Following her tweet, Jamil was met by support from her followers – with some even sharing their own experiences.
One journalist recounted a story of her own, writing: "Piers came after me a while back too, completely unprovoked. It was awful. His followers are relentless and harassed me for several days. I’m so glad you’re still here, Jameela. The world would be less shiny without you."
Another wrote: "The fact that they gave him a platform for so long is disgusting. Glad you're in a better place today - the world is all the brighter with you in it."
A third chimed in: "The fact that he gutlessly left the set, when HE was faced with a difficult situation, speaks volumes about him, doesn't it??? Esp. when he complained about OTHERS leaving their's..."
Back in February of 2020, Jamil and Morgan had a heated exchange after he released a text message thought to be from the late Love Island host Caroline Flack in which the actress was mentioned.
Per E! Online, Jamil accused Morgan of "using a dead woman who I was friends with, as a weapon to try to create further harassment for me".

Last night, it was confirmed by ITV that Morgan had left his role as presenter on Good Morning Britain after becoming the center of an investigation launched by broadcasting regulator Ofcom.
The former GMB host, 55, had received more than 41,000 complaints after he cast doubt on Meghan Markle's revelation that she'd had suicidal thoughts during her time in the Royal Family.
Explaining his decision to step down from GMB, Morgan said: "On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview.
"I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions.
VT has contacted Piers Morgan for comment.
