Jason Derulo is 'knocked out' by Evander Holyfield in boxing ring

Jason Derulo has taken to Instagram to post a video of himself nearly getting knocked out by former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield after trying his hand at boxing.

In the first few seconds of the video, Derulo starts off fairly well, that is until he is hit with one powerful shot that sends him tumbling backward in what makes for very dramatic viewing.

Viewers no doubt thought he was a goner - until he dusted himself off and jumped right back up. Concerned for his opponent, Evander asked the Cats actor if he was OK.

Derulo, still visibly shaken, replies, "You almost got me."

And poking fun at himself in the caption for the video, he repeated the words, "You almost got me" alongside a laughing crying emoji.

A number of Jason's fans took to the comments to share their thoughts on the Savage Love singer's amateur boxing debut.

Needless to say, many of his followers immediately jumped on Derulo's "You almost got me" line, with one writing: "Damn near went cross-eyed after that hit talkin bout almost [sic]."

Another fan chimed in commenting: "Let me go check the meaning of "almost" real quick!!" along with laughing and crying emojis.

A third follower wrote: "I must say I appreciate the effort and pain u put to make this video [sic]."

The boxing mishap comes a week after Jason revealed in an interview with the Guardian that he has actually been enjoying lockdown.

"I’m afraid to say how much I’ve been enjoying lockdown. It’s been a hard time for a lot of people. But I haven’t been home since I was a kid really, so it’s been the most fun I’ve ever had in my life. I used to do so much traveling – last year I was home for 60 days. There’s no way I would live like that again."

However, there is one thing he does miss about his pre-lockdown days. "I used to work out twice a day and was looking great before lockdown – man, I miss that body," he admitted.
