Jason Momoa has paid a touching tribute to an eight-year-old Aquaman superfan who has tragically passed away from cancer.
Young Danny Sheehan went viral back in November when a video of him receiving a new Aquaman action figure was shared online. At the time, the youngster was battling with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer known as Pineoblastoma.
The video showing his elation at the new toy was widely shared online, and was quickly brought to the attention of Aquaman star Jason Momoa.
Momoa then sat down to have a video call with Danny, where the pair shared compliments and discussed Danny's dream to one day see a dolphin. "We gotta make that happen," Momoa tells the young boy, who then proudly shows off his Aquaman figure.
Following their video call, Momoa was able to send Danny an Aquaman care package - complete with his own full-size trident.
Sadly, however, Danny's family has revealed in a Facebook post that Danny had passed away from his illness on August 8.
The post read: "Just after midnight, while in our arms, Danny took his last sweet small warm breaths and took flight. An Angel in Heaven. Instead of here on earth. Surreal and utter heartbreak can’t even begin to describe this feeling inside. But, I have to believe that what I whispered to him was true. Because moms don’t lie.
"When you wake up in Heaven, baby, you will be safe and happy and cozy. You won’t be afraid. You will be with your brother. Watching over me and daddy and everyone. We will be so sad. But you can send us rainbows and butterflies and ladybugs to say hi. We will snuggle again soon. My best friend. My sweet special good boy. Mummy and daddy love you so."
Amid the outpouring of message, Momoa has also taken to social media to pay tribute to his biggest superfan.
Sharing an image of a mural depicting him and Danny both as the sea-swelling superhero, Momoa wrote:
"I just found out this heartbreaking news. All my Aloha to this beautiful Ohana Love u baby boy rest in [peace] You will live in my heart I dedicate aquaman 2 to you lil angel Aloha UNKO Aquaman."
