Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie issue joint response to new movie about Brad Pitt 'love triangle'
Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie have reportedly responded after it was claimed that a movie about their past "love triangle" with Brad Pitt would be released.
The rumored production would explore the fallout from Aniston's 2005 split from the 62-year-old F1 star and his subsequent relationship with Jolie.
While the drama has fueled headlines for decades, insiders now claim studios see it as prime material for a major hit.
"If they can make a big movie about Sully ['Miracle on the Hudson' pilot Chesley Sullenberger III] and something like 'Pam and Tommy' can get a bunch of Emmy nominations, then the saga of Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie's epic decades-long feud is fair game," a source said, per Heat World.
Despite their long-standing differences, both actresses aren't too happy about the possibility of their past being dramatized.
"It’s been over 20 years since everything went down, and they still can’t escape it. The thought of turning it all into a trashy TV spectacle is the stuff of nightmares, that’s one thing they absolutely see eye to eye on," the source claims.
"They’ve both spent so many years trying to move past all the drama, so hearing people talk about the possibility of it all being dragged back into the spotlight again is incredibly upsetting. Neither of them wants to relive the circus that surrounded that period and they certainly don’t want to see actors playing them on screen while every painful detail gets dissected all over again," they added.
The project is still in its early stages, but insiders say the entertainment industry has changed, and that no story is off-limits if there is enough public interest.
"There was a time when this sort of thing would have been unthinkable, there were certain lines that studios wouldn’t cross and certain private matters that were simply left alone,” the source explains.
"But that’s not the reality anymore. These days, nothing seems to be off limits if there’s an audience for it, and the truth is their story still fascinates people, it’s become the stuff of legend," they added.
A Scandal That Never Went Away
The saga dates back to when the Friends star, 57, and Pitt were seen as Hollywood’s golden couple after marrying in 2000.
That image shattered when he began filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Jolie in 2004, followed by the couple’s split announcement in January 2005.
Just months later, Pitt and Jolie appeared in a magazine spread titled Domestic Bliss, sparking public backlash and cementing the narrative that would follow them for years.
The 50-year-old Maleficent actress has maintained their relationship began after the marriage ended.
Aniston opened up about the intense media frenzy surrounding that period. "It was such juicy reading for people," she told Vanity Fair in 2025. "If they didn’t have their soap operas, they had their tabloids.
"It’s a shame that it had to happen, but it happened. And boy did I take it personally," she added.
She also recalled the emotional toll of speaking out at the time, saying: "I just remember the experience of doing it - which was kind of jarring. It was also such a vulnerable time. But yeah, that was one for the memoirs."
Legal Drama and Lasting Fallout
Pitt and Jolie, later dubbed "Brangelina," went on to build a family and marry in 2014, before their split in 2016 led to a lengthy legal battle, which was finalized in 2024, with ongoing disputes over their French winery.
Meanwhile, Aniston married Justin Theroux in 2015 before divorcing in 2018. She is now in a relationship with Jim Curtis.
But even though she has moved on, the shadow of the original scandal still lingers. Aniston has spoken candidly about the impact of media coverage at the time.
"Journalism back then felt more like a form of a sport," she said. "There’s obviously some PTSD we all have, which is why these [interviews] scare me. How are they going to misinterpret my words or take something out of context? And one line nowadays…"
She added: "We’re human beings, even though some people don’t want to believe we are. They think, 'You signed up for it, so you take it.' But we really didn’t sign up for that."
