Earlier this week, Meghan Markle shared an adorable video of her reading to Archie to celebrate his first birthday.

The clip, which was filmed by Prince Harry, was shared on the Save the Children Instagram page, in collaboration with the charity's Save with Stories campaign, which aims to raise funds for children and families struggling due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the UK, and around the world.

"Duck! Rabbit!' with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex (and Harry, The Duke of Sussex behind the camera), read to their son Archie for his 1st birthday. Happy Birthday, Archie!" the caption read. "Thank you #DuchessMeghan for helping us to raise urgent funds for our coronavirus appeal by reading Duck! Rabbit."

But despite stepping back from her role in the British royal family, critics have continued to come after the Duchess of Sussex, and this video proved to be no exception. Something Borrowed author, Emily Giffin, for example, shared a series of posts on her Instagram story about the video, where she referred to Meghan as "phoney" and "unmaternal".

In one post, she even wrote "Go away, Meghan" over a screenshot of the video. Giffen has since apologized for her comments, per E! Online.

But luckily, it appears that the erstwhile Suits star has some pretty influential friends in her corner. Actress Jennifer Garner, while not directly calling out Giffin's remarks, took to her own Instagram account on Wednesday to reshare the clip of Meghan and Archie, and thanked the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for "sharing your gorgeous son"

"Dear Meghan and Harry," Garner wrote. "Thank you for sharing your gorgeous son with the world and allowing us to join you in celebrating his first birthday. We are humbled and grateful that you chose @savewithstories to mark this special day and in so doing — have raised the visibility of @savethechildren’s work in the US and UK and have helped feed and educate children in desperate need of both."

"More than anything — watching you lovingly talk through the pictures while your clever Archie turns the pages — lifts all of us up and reminds us that what may seem like a duck just might turn out to be a rabbit," Garner continued. "Thank you for this joyful and meaningful shift in perspective."
