Taking to Twitter yesterday, (October 27), the 30-year-old shared the following statement:
"I would like to clarify my voting record, which is the subject of many circulating headlines.
"I grew up in a republican family and voted for John McCain in 2008, but through Obama's presidency, and growing up to realize I was voting against my own rights, I am proud to say I am a Democrat."
Last week, Lawrence revealed as part of the Absolutely Not podcast that she was raised in a Republican household and had voted for John McCain back in 2008.
"It's extremely hard to talk about politics," she said. "You don't want to. I'm an actor, I want everyone to see my movies. I grew up Republican. My first time voting, I voted for John McCain. I was a little Republican."

But since voting in the 2008 Presidential election between John McCain and Barack Obama, Lawrence says she "changed [her] politics based on the things that [she's learned]."
"I was fortunate to grow up in a Republican house where I can see the fiscal benefits of some of the Republican policies, and I can also see that the social issues weren't in line with my views," she said.
Lawrence continued:
"When Donald Trump got elected that just changed everything. Because this is an impeached president who's broken many laws and has refused to condemn white supremacy.
"It feels like there has been a line drawn in the sand. I don't want to support a president who supports white supremacists."
The actor supported Hillary Clinton during her 2016 presidential campaign according to an interview she did with Vanity Fair.
This year, she said, she's voting for Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
"I’m voting for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris this year because Donald Trump has and will continue to put himself before the safety and well-being of America," she told V magazine.
"He does not represent my values as an American, and most importantly as a human being."
