Alba, best known for her roles in Fantastic Four and Awake, surprised her parents by buying them a house.

But here's the difference, it wasn't just any old house - she decided to kick start an entire renovation project on her grandparents’ house which her father grew up in.

Alba's grandparents, who immigrated from Mexico to the United States, raised their children, including Alba's father, in Claremont, California.

The 43-year-old actress, being the thoughtful daughter she clearly is, decided to buy the house three years ago and start working on it with her "partner in crime" Lizzy Mathis so she could surprise both her parents, who'd been planning to sell it to pay for medical care for their grandmother.

Taking to Instagram, she recalled her thoughts around the major project, as well as her father's reaction to the wholesome gift.

"After my grandfather passed away, my parents were planning on selling the house in order to pay for my grandmother’s medical bills. Well… I pretended like I was going to help them flip it before selling it when in reality, I had planned to buy it for them all along..." she wrote in a statement alongside a video revealing the surprise to her dad.

"I've been trying to figure out a way to tell you that I'm going to buy this house for you, so now the home you grew up in is yours," Alba can be heard saying in the clip.

Mark immediately broke down crying, holding his head in his hands upon hearing the news. Her mother was also seen wiping away tears as they came to terms with it all.

"I pretended like I was going to help them flip it before selling when in reality, I had planned to buy it for them all along," the 43-year-old wrote. "Even just watching this trailer back, I’m filled with so many feels - after keeping in this big secret, surprising my parents, followed by many many months of working to make the house perfect.

"I can’t believe this really happened. Grampers, this one is for you - we love and miss you more than you know," she wrote of her grandfather, who she shared recently passed away.

In a longer video posted to YouTube, Alba's brother Josh can be heard saying: "Dad is shaking right now, you should know, Jessica."

"[Your grandfather] would be proud of you Jessica," Mark told his daughter as she wiped his tears away. "He was so proud of you."

"He's proud of you, dad," she responded.
