In her impassioned message, the 'Price Tag' singer highlighted the incredible changes a woman's body undergoes during pregnancy and childbirth. Jessie - real name Jessica Ellen Cornish - started her post by saying: "I’m writing this for myself as well as any one else that needs to read this."
"The hormones are flying and crashing, and your body is working the hardest it has ever worked," Jessie continued. "You are exhausted, but you are magical. You grew a whole human."
The artist was open about her body's journey, revealing a photo of herself 11 days postpartum, stating that she "still looks pretty much the same now, 35 days on." Embracing this transition as part of her journey into motherhood, Jessie J professed love for her body, appreciating the "magical roommate" it provided space for.
Encouraging others to be patient and kind to themselves, the singer expressed that the natural body changes resulting from pregnancy and childbirth were to be celebrated rather than stigmatized.
"Take your time. Be easy on yourself, your body, AND your mind. Remember you are in recovery," she urged fellow mothers. "It HAD to change. It will be bigger and smaller in different places. IT IS BEAUTIFUL and NATURAL."
She also highlighted the importance of disregarding societal pressures or judgements about how women should look post-pregnancy. "Ignore the whispers of what some people say you should or shouldn’t look like after a certain time," she insisted.
With this poignant message, Jessie J is helping to encourage women to appreciate the uniqueness of their own pregnancy journeys, reminding them that it's their time and their bodies. This, she emphasizes, is the magic of individuality, as she called for body positivity in a society that often expects rapid body transformations after childbirth.
As she writes: "Your time and YOUR body. It’s not the same as anyone else’s, and that’s what makes it special. You are unique."
Her concluding words of inspiration served a tribute to mothers everywhere, emphasizing their incredible role. "You are doing amazing Mamma. You the MVP," she ended.
Since sharing the post, Jessie has amassed over 100,000 'likes' in a matter of hours, with people taking to the comments section to praise the star.
One fan gushed: "I fully expected my stomach to be flat (well not flat, more none bump shaped) after having a baby because nobody ever really spoke about the post bump, it’s so refreshing to see more people posting it."
A second added: "Love this. I’ve gained almost everything back that I lost pre baby. It’s easy to hate myself, beat myself up, but I often forget I grew my little bestie and she is worth it all."
Let's hope we see more of this narrative in the future!
