Jesy Nelson has given a heartbreaking update on the health of her twins, claiming that they could "both die".
The former Little Mix star, 33, stunned fans earlier this year when she announced she was expecting with partner Zion Foster.
After months away from social media, Jesy returned with the unexpected baby news, leaving her followers thrilled.
But now, she’s sharing a deeply personal and emotional update about the dangers she and her babies are facing.
Jesy has been proudly sharing glimpses of her growing bump, most recently posting a picture just yesterday. But in a tearful new video, she revealed that her twins are at risk due to a serious pregnancy complication.
Speaking through tears while Zion comforted her, Jesy said: “We wanted to let you in on our journey of what we’ve been going through.”
She went on to share their excitement over having identical twins, saying: “We cannot believe it.” However, their joy quickly turned to worry when they learned about the complications that come with their specific type of twins.
“The type of twins we are having are called mono/di twins and so normally most twins will have two placentas that they feed off of. But when you have mono/di twins, that means your twins live off one placenta which can lead to lots of complications – one of them being one baby might take all the nutrients which, and it’s really awful to say, but could lead to both babies dying.”
Jesy shared that she has been diagnosed as “pre-stage TTTS,” which stands for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome - a condition where blood flow between the babies becomes imbalanced.
She’s now under strict medical supervision, going for scans twice a week to track the twins’ progress.
“The current situation is that every time I’ve gone it has got a little bit worse but we are just hoping and praying for the best.”
Holding back tears, Jesy admitted that while they feel incredibly “blessed” to be expecting twins, the stress and uncertainty of the situation have been overwhelming.
“It’s just really sad that it does come with these complications. We had no clue that this kind of thing happens when you have twins. We just really wanna raise awareness about this, because there are so many people who don’t know about this.”
Jesy’s pregnancy news came as a surprise to fans who had expected a music-related announcement when she returned to social media in January.
Having left Little Mix in 2020 due to mental health struggles, Jesy has been candid about the pressures of fame and the impact of online trolling.
Instead of dropping music updates, she revealed she was pregnant - sharing a sweet Polaroid snap of her blossoming bump with her 9.7 million followers.
“She’s eating for 3 now,” she captioned the post, confirming she was expecting twins.
Jesy and Zion were first linked back in 2022 after reportedly meeting through mutual friends.
For now, Jesy is focusing entirely on her health and the well-being of her babies. With twice-weekly monitoring and the constant uncertainty of her condition, she and Zion are holding onto hope while spreading awareness about the risks of mono/di twins.

Jesy Nelson has shared exciting news with fans, announcing she is expecting twins with fellow musician Zion Foster.
The 33-year-old former Little Mix star revealed her pregnancy on Instagram Sunday (January 12), posting a photo of her growing baby bump alongside Zion, 26.
The announcement came months after the pair were reported to have split last September.
In the post, Jesy cheekily noted she’s now “eating for three.”
The announcement has been flooded with congratulatory messages from fans, with one person writing: "You deserve every happiness Jesy! Congratulations."
"The best news," another added. "Congratulations to you both."
Jesy also joins fellow Little Mix member Leigh-Anne Pinnock as a mom of twins, after the latter welcomed her two daughters with partner Andre Gray back in 2021.
Little Mixer Perrie Edwards is also a mom, after welcoming a son named Axel Xander Oxlade-Chamberlain back in 2021.
Jesy and Zion first sparked romance rumors in January 2022. Their relationship faced challenges, including their nine-year age gap, which reportedly contributed to a breakup in November 2023, per the Daily Mail.
The couple reconciled shortly afterward, only to reportedly "split" again five months ago, according to The Sun.
Fans speculated about their separation last September when both Jesy and Zion removed traces of each other from their social media accounts. At the time, Zion confirmed the breakup in a comment on OK! Magazine’s TikTok, saying: "Beautiful woman inside and out, wish her nothing but the best."
Despite the ups and downs, the pair hinted at a fresh start with the heartwarming pregnancy announcement, showcasing their renewed bond.
The couple had previously collaborated on music, releasing one track together in August, with others reportedly ready for release. However, following their earlier split, a source told The Sun: “Jesy and Zion split last month and have completely cut ties with each other.
"It’s not the first time they have broken up, but friends think it’s for good this time. It’s slightly awkward though because they had an EP ready of music they have made together, and Jesy doesn’t want it released now. Fans have already heard one of their tracks and were hoping for more, but it’s looking pretty unlikely at this point.”
News of their rocky relationship saddened fans, who took to social media to express their upset.
Now, with their pregnancy announcement, fans are hopeful for a brighter chapter for Jesy and Zion as they prepare to welcome twins into their lives.
Congratulations to the couple!

Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has revealed that her baby twins have been diagnosed with a serious health condition which will likely leave them unable to walk.
The singer, 34, gave birth to her first children - twin girls called Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster - with her partner Zion Foster in May 2025.
She had undergone a complicated pregnancy with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, with the pair being born at 31 weeks and five days.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Jesy revealed that her eight-month-old daughters have been diagnosed with SMA1 - a severe form of spinal muscular atrophy.
She told her followers that after "the most gruelling three or four months" her girls had been diagnosed with the genetic neuromuscular condition, which causes progressive muscle weakness and wasting due to the loss of motor neurons.
Jesy explained that it "affects every muscle in the body down to legs, arms, breathing and swallowing", adding: "Essentially what it does over time is it kills the muscles in the body."
She heartbreakingly revealed: "If it's not treated in time your baby's life expectancy will not make it past the age of two."
The singer told her followers that the girls are being treated a London's Great Ormond Street Hospital, where doctors told them the the twins "are probably never going to be able to walk or regain their neck strength so they will be disabled."
She added: "The best thing we can do right now is get them treatment and hope for the best."
Jesy also revealed that early detection and treatment is key to save the muscles as there are treatments which can slow the progression of the disease, but any muscles that are already affected can no longer be saved.
She revealed that as her babies were born premature, doctors had told her not to focus on them hitting the tradition milestones at the same time as full-term babies would, as they would reach them in their own time.
Visits with medical professionals had also not flagged any early concerns as the babies had appeared to be developing well.
Jesy revealed that it was her mother who first notice that the twins were not moving as much as expected, and she and Zion soon realised they were also struggling to feed properly.
She explained: "After the most gruelling three, four months and endless appointments the girls have now been diagnosed with a severe muscular disease - SMA Type 1.
"Once the girls got treated, it was a very rapid process because time is of the essence with this disease. I am so grateful for because without it they will die."
She added: "It has just been endless hospital appointments, I feel like the hospital has become my second home and I feel like I have had to become a nurse because I have to put them on breathing machines and do stuff that no mother should have to do with their child."
Jesy broke down as she admitted: "The last few months have been the most heartbreaking time of my life. I literally feel like my whole life has done a 360. I almost feel like I am grieving a life I thought I was going to have with my children.
"I truly believe my girls will defy all the odds with the right help and do things that have never been done."
She revealed that she had decided to share their story to help other parents in the same position and to raise awareness of the condition, including the early warning signs such as floppiness, bell-shaped stomachs, and rapid breathing.
She also stressed the importance of a heel prick test at birth "which can literally save their legs, and so many parts of their body."
Babies are born with SMA if both parents carry a faulty gene which causes the condition, with one in 40 people being a carrier.
In just the last six years, there have been great leaps forward in treatment for babies with SMA Type 1.
Prior to 2019, babies born with the condition often wouldn't live until their second birthday, while those with the milder form of the disease would likely never be able to walk, as well as facing severe respiratory infections.
However, if it is detected early enough, there are now treatments which can stop the disease in its tracks if they are started in the first days or weeks of a baby's life.
Currently, babies in the UK are not routinely tested for SMA, meaning for many the diagnosis could come too late.

Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson and her fiancé Zion Foster have reportedly broken up after four years together.
Sources close to the pair say the split was mutual, and their main focus is successfully co-parenting their twin daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe.
The reported break-up comes just months after the pair got engaged, and follows a stressful year for the pair.
Jesy and Zion welcomed their little girls prematurely at 31 weeks in May 2025 and were later told their twins had been diagnosed with a life-threatening condition, Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA Type 1).
According to the NHS, this is the most severe form of the rare genetic condition, which affects muscle strength and movement, and can cause serious breathing and swallowing difficulties. Without treatment, babies often have a life expectancy of around two years.
It was later revealed that Ocean and Story’s diagnosis came after irreversible nerve damage had already occurred.
Speaking to The Sun, a source close to the pair said: “She and Zion remain friends and are fully focused on their daughters.” Another added, “They are fully united in co-parenting. Their priority continues to be the well-being of their daughters.”
Jesy, 34, and Zion, 26, first began dating in 2022 after years of friendship, and in January 2025, they announced they were expecting identical twins. This news quickly turned complicated when Jesy’s pregnancy was later classed as high-risk as the twins were diagnosed in utero with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS).
This rare condition affects identical twins who share a placenta and saw Jesy undergoing surgery while pregnant and spending months under medical supervision before Ocean and Story were born.
Soon after their birth, further concerns were raised. Jesy’s mum, Janice, was reportedly the first to notice the girls were showing limited leg movement and the twins were later diagnosed with SMA Type 1.
Doctors have reportedly told Jesy and Zion that the girls are unlikely to ever walk and may not regain neck strength, meaning they will likely require wheelchairs. The babies are currently under the care of Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and have received treatment, including a one-off gene therapy infusion approved by the NHS.
Despite the heartbreak, Jesy has been speaking out to raise awareness. Appearing on ITV’s This Morning, she said: “We’ve been told they will probably never walk. They’ll probably never regain their neck strength. They are going to be in wheelchairs.”
But she added: “There have been so many stories where parents have been told this, and their children have gone on to do incredible things. So I believe that you’ve just got to manifest this into existence.”
Jesy went on: “I truly believe that my girls will defy all odds. And with the right help, they will fight this and go on to do things that have never been done.”
Since the diagnosis, Jesy has committed herself into campaigning for change. She has launched a petition calling for SMA to be added to the NHS newborn heel-prick screening test. This simple £4 blood test could help prevent long-term disability if the condition is caught early.
She told supporters, “I just need you to know that I am so determined to make this happen. So I am going to fight as much as I can to make this part of the newborn screening.”
Four Nine has reached out to Jesy’s reps for comment.

A devastated mom is grieving over the death of her baby girl who was born both a quadruplet and an identical twin.
Ashley Ness, 36, gave birth to two sets of identical twins six months ago - an event so rare that it was described by a gynecology and obstetrics expert as "one in a million", per People.
The quadruplets were 12 weeks premature, having been born on July 28, 2022. Chesley, one of the four babies, endured the most health issues. Ultimately, she would die just six months after her birth.
"Just everything is happening to her," Ashley of Taunton, Mass., told the outlet on January 25. "And she takes it like a champ. She opens her little eyes and just stares at you, like, 'Hi.' She doesn't look miserable. Just like, 'Okay, mom, I'm going to be fine.' "
"It breaks my heart," Ashley added.
The infant sadly passed away on February 22, with the grieving mom sharing in a statement to People: "My beautiful daughter, Chesley May, was called home to Heaven after a courageous six months of life.
"Her passing leaves a huge emptiness in the hearts of all of us; her parents, her siblings, her family and the NICU team at Mass General hospital."
Ashley's baby daughter had multiple operations and never made it out of the hospital, she revealed in her statement.
She went on to say that despite "weighing only one pound seven ounces," Chesley was so "mighty".
"Day in and day out she fought and fought and continued to beat the odds," Ashley went on. "Her strength was unwavering. Each time she overcame an obstacle we were so excited thinking that finally all the quads would be home together soon. We were positive that she would live a long and healthy life."
She continued: "We will forever miss her laughing face, her funny little air leak sounds, and the sparkle in her big beautiful eyes. We are so proud of her and know that she is at peace."
The conception of quadruplets and identical twins simultaneously takes place when two eggs are fertilized, with each egg dividing again, per Dr. Ahmet Baschat, director of the Center for Fetal Therapy and a professor in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics.
Chesley's identical twin Chatham was discharged from the hospital on October 4. The other two quadruplets, baby boys Chance and Cheston, were allowed to go home on October 17 and 18.
Ashley also has a nine-year-old daughter, Chanel, and her partner Val Bettencourt has two sons, 11-year-old Isaiah and eight-year-old Zayden.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the little ones receive "round-the-clock care for most of their first year."
The description for the fundraiser, which was set up before the little ones were born, reads: "Ashley and her boyfriend are thrilled and overwhelmed. They already have four children between them. The expenses, even now, are adding up. They need help. LOTS OF HELP!
"She lives on a part-time hairdresser's income, and he's a small engine mechanic. They will need lots of support as quadruplets require hospital trips, home care, lots of diapers, and other necessities.
"The average cost to raise one child is 17k per year. The average cost for quadruplets is above 68k. These expenses do not include specialized treatments for preemies, which they will be."
It has raised more than half its goal of $45,000 at the time of writing.
Our thoughts are with the family at this devastating time.
