Actor and comedian Jim Carrey has provoked controversy on social media this week, after making what some have perceived to be a "sleazy" remark to a female reporter.

This incident comes a mere week after Carrey landed himself in hot water after making remarks about Australian actress Margot Robbie during their appearance on BBC's The Graham Norton Show.

While discussing his excitement over getting to meet the Birds of Prey actress, Carrey revealed never been to Australia himself before making a comment about Robbie's looks, which many Twitter users took umbrage over.

Carrey jokingly told Robbie: "It’s incredible that you’ve got as far as you have with your obvious physical disadvantages. It’s unbelievable, it’s really something. That's pure talent right there!"

The comments were met with a backlash from viewers, with one person tweeting: "So there we have it. @JimCarrey is a sexist, objectifying piece of crap, claiming Margot Robbie’s success is down to her physical attractiveness and nothing else. Incorrect. She’s a fecking great actress. What the hell was he thinking?

Now, Carrey has once again sparked more controversy in an interview with Heatworld entertainment correspondent Charlotte Long.

Long was interviewing Carrey during a promotional press tour for his role as the villainous scientist Dr Robotnik in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie.

When Long asked him: "What is left of your bucket list?" Carrey replied in a deadpan voice: "You. You're the only thing left to do."  Long then laughs and says: "I don't know what to say to that", to which Carrey replies: "Just own it".

Although Long appears to laugh off the comment - which could be interpreted as Carrey simply referencing that the press junket was his last job to do that day - certain social media users were made uncomfortable by the implied innuendo.

For instance, one person wrote: "Such a huge fan of @JimCarrey but lost respect for him today. This is really unacceptable, I wish and hope he apologizes to you."

Another replied to the video, saying: "Unfortunately it turns out Jim Carrey is a massive sleazebag".

Jim Carrey also alarmed a number of TV viewers in a surreal appearance he made on Good Morning America, in which he pretended to strum his leg like a guitar, jumped to the floor while pretending to snap a football, and even managed to break his own mic.
