Jonah Hill has spoken candidly about the "years of public mockery" he has endured after shirtless photos of the actor were published online.
The 21 Jump Street star, 37, took to his Instagram on Friday to share with his 2.2 million followers a poignant post about finally being able to love himself after years of insecurities.
Included in the post was a screenshot of a Daily Mail article, which had published paparazzi images of Jonah at the beach on Thursday. In one of the images, he can be seen shirtless.
Jonah admitted that he has finally reached a point where he is no longer bothered by intrusive photos.
The full caption reads:
"I don’t think I ever took my shirt off in a pool until I was in my mid 30s even in front of family and friends. Probably would have happened sooner if my childhood insecurities weren’t exacerbated by years of public mockery about my body by press and interviewers.
"So the idea that the media tries to play me by stalking me while surfing and printing photos like this and it can’t phase me anymore is dope. I’m 37 and finally love and accept myself.
"This isn’t a 'good for me' post. And it’s definitely not a 'feel bad for me post'. It’s for the the kids who don’t take their shirt off at the pool. Have fun. You’re wonderful and awesome and perfect. All my love."
In less than a day, the touching post has racked up over half a million likes, and more than 17K comments at the time of writing.
Unsurprisingly, plenty of the actor's followers have since taken to the comments to share their thoughts on his heartfelt post.
One person wrote: "We don’t know each other but this post gave me all the feels. I was that kid at the pool too. Self love and confidence is most important."
Director Judd Apatow shared: "When I take my shirt off at the beach it looks like I am still wearing a shirt...or sweater. Now I will show it off with pride!"

A third user wrote alongside two fire emojis: "My guy you're successful as f**k and make us all happy with your work, that's all that matters."
A final person shared: "I’ve got so much body acne and I stopped caring only last year."
