Julia Fox slammed over 'horrible' and 'distasteful' Halloween costume

Julia Fox has sparked backlash over her "horrible" and "distasteful" Halloween costume.

The 35-year-old actress is no stranger to bold fashion statements, but her 2025 costume for the spooky season might be a step too far.

Fox debuted the look on October 30 at The Cursed Amulet’s Halloween party in New York City, choosing the red carpet to reveal a costume inspired by former First Lady Jackie Kennedy on the day her husband, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated.

Channeling a Tragic Historical Moment

The Uncut Gems star donned a pink suit and a matching pillbox hat, similar to the double-breasted wool suit the then-first lady was wearing on November 22, 1963, while riding in a motorcade in Dallas, Texas.

She completed the look with a black handbag and a dark brunette wig. But what drew the most attention was the addition of fake blood stains on the suit, referencing the aftermath of the assassination.

The decision to incorporate blood appeared to be a deliberate nod to Jackie's famous refusal to change out of her clothing when she stood beside Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson as he was sworn in shortly after the killing.

“They actually had another dress laid out for her to put on and she refused,” historian Steve Gillon previously said, per PEOPLE.

“She went out in her blood-stained suit and stood next to Lyndon Johnson. Despite these horrible circumstances, she was willing to stand for a photo because she understood what it meant for the nation to have continuity in government," he added.

The items are preserved at the National Archives and Records Administration’s facility in College Park, Maryland.

Public Reaction to Fox's Costume

The response to Fox's Halloween costume was scathing. “Distasteful,” one commenter on X wrote. “Horrible," a second added.

Another user shared: “She didn't need the blood, that's not [Halloween], it's disrespectful," while a fourth chimed in: "That’s a bit ghoulish and tasteless. It’s not like his family and friends are all long dead after all."

As of now, Fox has not responded to the backlash or issued any public comment about the costume.

Fox’s Halloween look comes just weeks before the 62nd anniversary of JFK’s assassination.

Lady Bird Johnson, wife of Lyndon B. Johnson, opened up about how Jackie covered her deceased husband's body with her own during the horrific shooting.

"As we ground to a halt - we were still the third car … I cast one last look over my shoulder and saw in the President's car a bundle of pink, just like a drift of blossoms, lying in the back seat," she wrote, adding: "It was Mrs. Kennedy lying over the President's body."

"Mrs. Kennedy's dress was stained with blood," Lady continued. "One leg was almost entirely covered with it, and her right glove was caked, it was caked with blood - her husband's blood."
