Kanye West has revealed why he chose to buy a house across from Kim Kardashian amid their ongoing divorce.
The 'Gold Digger' rapper and KUWTK star filed for divorce after seven years of marriage back in February. And back in December, TMZ reported that he had purchased a $4.5 million house in one of Los Angeles' exclusive neighborhoods - just across the street from his estranged wife's home.
The 44-year-old rapper - who recently changed his name to Ye - spoke about the purchase in an upcoming interview with Jason Lee for Hollywood Unlocked.
In a preview for the interview, which is set to be released on Monday, Ye says: "My solace comes from seeing my kids and getting a solid schedule. That's why I even got the house."
Speaking about the media's response to the purchase, Ye said: "[It was] flipped into there was something wrong with me getting a house next to my kids."
Watch Ye's comments in the video below:Ye then explains that when his own mother took him to live in Chicago, his father chose to stay in Atlanta.
"Nothing with my career, with this rap, with this media, with none of that, that's gonna keep me from my children. And that's what I want everybody to know," Ye added. "Don't play with me, don't play with my children. Ain't no security gonna get in between me and my children and you ain't gonna gaslight me."
The rapper's comments about security come after he claimed that he had attempted to see his children on Monday, but was prevented from doing so.
Per Entertainment Tonight, Ye said: "Earlier this week, Monday, when I went to go pick my kids up for school, the security stopped me at the gate. So at that point, security was in between me and my children and that's what was not going to happen."
He then continued: "I didn't want to argue about it. So I just chilled, took my kids to school, and then took my kids back. I am driving. I bring them back and North was like, 'I want you to come upstairs and see something.' And it's like, 'Oh, Daddy can't come see something. Daddy can't come inside.' But that hadn't been defined."
Ye also referenced Kim's recent appearance on Saturday Night Live, saying: "They can go on SNL and make jokes, they can make jokes in the media, they can plant stories, about whoever I am dating and whatever I want to do. They can block deals, they can do all of that type of stuff, but I can tell you straight up, don't play with my kids."
The rapper shares four children with 41-year-old Kim - North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 2.
