Earlier this month, rapper Kanye West announced his intention to run for president in 2020.
Writing to his near-30 million Twitter followers, the 43-year-old announced his intentions on running a campaign between now and November in a bid to become POTUS.
Writing on Twitter, the hip-hop star wrote:
"We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision, and building our future. I am running for president of the United States."
Now, BBC News reports that Kanye has officially launched his campaign following an eyebrow-raising rally in Charleston, South Carolina, last night.
Running for his 'Birthday Party', West appeared at a wedding and conference hall in the city, in front of a crowd of "registered guests". Per Billboard, the registered attendees had to sign a COVID-19 liability release form, agree to wear masks, and social distance.
Footage from the rally shows Kanye with '2020' shaved into the back of his head and wearing a protective security vest.
He also spoke without a microphone - meaning he had to frequently tell those in attendance to be quiet.
But perhaps the most bizarre moment came when Kanye started discussing abortion.
He told that crowd that he was urged not to tell "this story", and then said in an outburst: "I almost killed my daughter. I almost killed my daughter."
West then started crying, after revealing that his parents nearly aborted him. He said: "There would have been no Kanye West, because my dad was too busy."
West then added: "I almost killed my daughter... even if my wife [Kim Kardashian West] were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world, even when I didn't want to."
During his interview with Forbes earlier this month, West revealed his pro-life stance, saying: "I am pro-life because I’m following the word of the Bible."
However, despite his pro-life views, West did say at the rally that abortion should remain legal - and that struggling new mothers should receive financial support, saying: "Everybody that has a baby gets a million dollars."
He said at the rally: "The only thing that can free us is by obeying the rules that were given to us for a promised land. Abortion should be legal because guess what? The law is not by God anyway, so what is legality?"
West gave an impromptu monologue about 19th-century abolitionist Harriet Tubman, making comments that angered many people on social media.
Tubman was born into slavery, but after escaping a Maryland plantation in 1849 at the age of 27, later returned to the South to rescue other slaves on the network of routes and safe houses known as "underground railroad". Her incredible actions meant she put her own life at risk in order to save others.
However, Kanye has a very different opinion of Tubman from what it says in our history books, as he told those in attendance: "Harriet Tubman never actually freed the slaves, she just had the slaves go work for other white people."
West also became emotional when speaking about his mother's death following complications during cosmetic surgery.
Last night, West also revealed his first presidential campaign graphic, featuring a bright orange graphic with 'THE WEST WING' written on it.
Once again, the entire display left many fans wondering if West is serious about making it into the White House, or is her just promoting an upcoming album.
According to the BBC, West has already missed the deadline to qualify for the ballot in several states.
That being said, last week the rapper did manage to qualify to appear on Oklahoma's presidential ballot.
In order to appear on South Carolina's ballot, West needs to collect 10,000 signatures by noon (local time) on Monday, July 20.
