Back in 2014, a new action movie with Keanu Reeves looked as if it might be, at best, a direct-to-DVD gem, and at worst, one of those flicks that get relegated to late-night movie channels no one has heard of. Instead, John Wick turned out to be a meticulously-choreographed and memorable movie - and so kicked off the 'Keanuissance'.
Much like 'the McConaissance' - a term coined for Matthew McConaughey's career revamp from rom-com heartthrob to Oscar-winning actor - Keanu has seen his image turn around completely, and now the internet can't get enough of him.
This year alone, he's given his fans reason enough to adore him. There was the third entry of the John Wick series hitting movie theatres, a voice acting role in Toy Story 4 on the way, and talk of him joining the MCU. On top of that, there was his surprise appearance in Always Be My Maybe, where he starred as... himself.
Here's the unforgettable scene from Always Be My MaybeThen this week, we saw Keanu take to the stage to announce that he would be appearing in the highly-anticipated video game Cyberpunk 2077.
Taking to the stage at E3, he gave the internet plenty more reasons to love him (and buy the game), with one particular interaction with a fan going viral.
Watch the 'breathtaking' momentAll in all, it's fair to say that 2019 has been a very good year for Reeves, who has quickly become the internet's favorite Hollywood actor.
He was recently asked by an interviewer for his thoughts on this 'Keanuaissance,' while on a press tour. During the interview, focused on the upcoming Toy Story sequel, he said that he was "glad" to be a part of it. "Well, I’m glad to be here," he said. "I’m glad to be having a revival. Thank you."
On top of a recently-announced John Wick 4, Reeves is also currently working on a third Bill & Ted movie titled Bill & Ted Face the Music, with he and Alex Winter reprising their iconic roles.
The Keanuaissance is out in full force right now, and it doesn't look like it's going to go away any time soon.
