Keith Urban has finally addressed rumors following his recent split from Nicole Kidman. The country superstar has addressed growing speculation that he changed the lyrics of a song once dedicated to his ex-wife (this time allegedly referencing his 25-year-old guitarist, Maggie Baugh) during his latest tour performances.
Urban, 57, took a moment during the final stop of his High and Alive World Tour in Nashville to clarify the situation before performing his 2002 hit 'You’ll Think of Me'.
“Stop reading stuff into it,” Urban tells fans
Before launching into the emotional ballad, Urban directly addressed the audience. “I’ve been covering it like this for a long time,” he told the crowd, adding pointedly: “Stop reading stuff into it.”
The singer then tweaked a familiar lyric, changing the line “But you’ll think of me” to “But I betcha think about me!”, a variation that some fans had interpreted as a pointed message.

Urban made clear that there was no hidden meaning behind the lyric change and that it was simply part of his long-running stage performance.
Viral video sparks online speculation
Rumors surrounding Urban and Baugh began circulating earlier this month, just days after Nicole Kidman filed for divorce on September 30, 2025, ending the couple’s 19-year marriage.
Shortly after the filing, a video went viral showing Urban and Baugh performing his 2017 hit 'The Fighter.' The clip, originally shared by Baugh on Instagram, featured a moment where Urban swapped out the original lyric “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter” for “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player.”
The playful change quickly drew attention from fans, with many expressing their surprise in the comments. Baugh captioned the clip: “Did Keith Urban just say that?”, a post that fueled speculation about their connection.
A song once dedicated to Nicole Kidman
“The Fighter” has long held deep personal meaning for Urban and Kidman. The singer has previously said the track was inspired by the early days of their relationship.
“It’s all from a conversation my wife and I had early on in our relationship,” Urban told Billboard at the time. “When things get tough, I need to hold her tighter and just try to take care of her. The song is about wanting to heal somebody, wanting to protect somebody, it’s really like a vow in so many ways.”
That backstory has made the recent lyric changes particularly noteworthy to fans who followed the couple’s nearly two-decade relationship.

Friends and family speak out
In the wake of the online speculation, several people close to both Urban and Baugh have come forward to deny any romantic connection between them. Country singer Alexandra Kay, a mutual friend, said she was “heartbroken” by the rumors circulating online.
Meanwhile, Baugh’s father, Chuck Baugh, told The Daily Mail that his daughter’s relationship with Urban is entirely professional. “I don’t know anything about it, other than she’s a guitar player for him,” he said. “It’s more of a musician thing than a dating thing.”
He added that he hadn’t heard “one way or the other” about any rumors but emphasized that the pair’s connection is work-related.
Neither Keith Urban nor Nicole Kidman has commented publicly on the divorce or the ongoing rumors surrounding Baugh.
