Khloé Kardashian has opened up about how she approaches the topic of body image with her three-year-old daughter.
The 37-year-old mom-of-one has had to grapple with her own self-confidence issues where her figure is concerned. As such, she is particularly wary about external influences affecting her daughter True Thompson's self-worth.
One step she has taken in order to prevent True from developing any body issues, is correcting people when they describe the tall toddler as "big".
In an interview with Health magazine, the doting mom said: "I don't play when it comes to True. She's very tall. People will always say, ‘She's so big.’ And I'll say, ‘Oh, she's so tall.’ I try to make them be more descriptive. I know what an adult means when they say that, but I don't want her to misinterpret that."
Fortunately, Khloé also told the magazine that she's noticed that True is "really tough, which is a great thing. And if that's who she is, I'm not trying to make her not be that way… I do try to always tell her that it's OK if she cries or if something is wrong."
Elsewhere in the interview, the Good American founder explained how she personally approaches health and fitness.
She said: "I have to think of it as a lifestyle rather than thinking, ‘I want to try this diet or some other thing someone was talking about,’. I’m so over that stage in my life. It's cliché, but it's all about mind, body, and soul.
"If I am not mentally strong then I physically feel like I can't do what I want to do. So, it is really not about the physical appearance."
When reflecting back on her past relationship with food, Khloé revealed that she was an "emotional eater" and that she'd "almost punish" herself for binge-eating when she was younger.
"I’ve actually always had a really unhealthy relationship with food," she confessed, adding that she had tried "every diet under the sun".
The reality star added: "When it comes to food — I had so many issues. It wasn't from one person, I guess just from society or how people critiqued my body."
