Kim Kardashian has posted many a provocative selfie over the years. She's amassed millions of 'likes' on social media, won fashion influencer awards - despite her nakedness - and practically built an entire brand on her racy Instagram posts.

But has she finally gone too far?

Many fans seemed to think so when the 36-year-old uploaded a steamy photo to the picture-sharing site on Friday. The highly-sexualised image in question showed the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star's body covered only by a tiny Chanel bikini, with her hair running down her back and her legs spread open.

Kim herself was certainly happy with the result - which got over three million likes - writing the caption: "Chanel vintage, lets please be specific". However, many commentators slammed the mother-of-three, claiming that she was "desperate" and "vulgar", and advising her to think of her "impressionable young daughter".

"First of all, if this was your actual body I would give you props. Secondly, you have kids please stop posting this photos. These photos I know are to distract from your husbands stupidity but you need to think of yourself and your kids first (sic)," wrote an Instagram user @angie_bambi.

Another Instagrammer going by the name of @ahad.akil was equally as unimpressed, putting "There are ways you could show off your body in a much classic way if you wanted! Just saying", along with @mr_chris_25 who commented saying: "You teaching a good lesson for your kids ? (sic)"

But while many people hated on the photo, other loved Kim's work. Dozens of people quickly jumped to the 36-year-old's defence, claiming that the star was being mum-shamed.

Instagrammer @freeman_kimberly insisted that Kim was a "great mom", writing: "With that body no shame at allllll sometimes i comment on how skinng you getting and to not do things in excess but your a great mom and nothing wrong with celebrating woman figure (sic)".

She was joined by tmuscat_05 who angrily wrote "Does it really matter what she posts honestly leave her alone!!! If you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all please. Btw no one likes bullies!!!". Social media user @amelie.perrault also jumped in the firing line, commenting: "she does have respect. respect for herself by owning her body".
In addition, the reality TV star also received some support from her fellow celebrities. Paris Hilton used her staple phrase when she wrote "That's hot", as noted by @commentsbycelebs.

Of course, it's far from the first time Kim has been criticised for her sexy pictures. In fact, many famous people have attacked her for her uploads, including Piers Morgan, Bette Midler and Chloë Grace Moretz.

Back in 2016, Chloë commented on one nude mirror selfie saying: "I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies".

Kim wasn't having any of it though, responding: "let's all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to twitter, since no one knows who she is. your nylon cover is cute boo".

Whether you love her or hate her, you have to admit: Kim's got sass.
