Kirstie Alley has responded to her critics on social media after she was blasted on Twitter for pledging her support to Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election.
The trouble began on the evening of Sunday, October 18, when the actress took to her official Twitter account to state that she was voting for Donald Trump in the upcoming United States presidential election.
Credit: 643In a post addressed to her 1.5 million followers on Twitter, the 69-year-old former Cheers cast member wrote:
"I’m voting for @realDonaldTrump because he’s NOT a politician. I voted for him 4 years ago for this reason and shall vote for him again for this reason."
"He gets things done quickly and he will turn the economy around quickly. There you have it folks there you have it. [sic]"
As a result, Alley was met with much criticism regarding her public support of the current president. Many people took to the comments to slate her support of the Republican leader:

"Don’t think I’ve ever seen so much name-calling in my life. Definitely not on my site here anyway I guess I’m not allowed to have a viewpoint without being called a really nasty names by what I’m going to suppose are really nasty people."
She also wrote that she was frustrated with the lack of understanding and open dialogue her post received, writing in a third tweet: "I should know why people are fighting with me? They aren’t fighting with me, they’re just yelling out names and slurs and insults."
She continued: "And unfortunately the same tired 3. I’m always open for discussions. I’m never open for base bullying .. why? Because I’m an intelligent woman. [sic]"
Alley later took to Twitter to share another message with her followers, writing:
"Stick to your guns. Not always easy to be under fire but always easier than going against your own integrity. & JUST REMEMBER: if it takes thousands to try & bring u down, you must be one powerful Mfer Love wins. [sic]"
