Kylie Jenner’s recent visit to a family-run restaurant in Greece sparked unexpected controversy after the owners shared their excitement online.
The reality star and entrepreneur, 27, dined at Tassia Restaurant in the coastal village of Fiscardo on July 12.
Overjoyed owners Polychronis Dendrinos and Tassia Dendrinou expressed their gratitude for her visit on Instagram, posting a photo of themselves standing alongside Jenner and praising her as a “remarkable guest.”
In the caption, they wrote: “An inspiring guest, and one of the most influential women of her generation. She experienced a taste of our Greek hospitality and cuisine. It was a true pleasure to host such a remarkable guest. We hope to welcome her again soon! – Dendrinos Family.”
They also described her as an “iconic entrepreneur and global trendsetter,” calling her visit a “true honour.”
However, the post quickly drew mixed reactions online. While some followers shared in the excitement, others questioned the public praise and took issue with Jenner’s image.
“‘Honour?’ Why different from any other guest?” one person asked. Another wrote: “A simple - Thanks for visiting Kylie Jenner would have been enough. An honor why? Smh”
A third added: “Thanks! Now I know where NOT to go,” suggesting they would avoid the restaurant altogether.
Amid the criticism, others came to the restaurant's defence. “This comment section is so negative. If I had Kylie come visit my restaurant I would post about it too,” one user wrote. Others called out the backlash as “jealousy,” urging the owners not to be discouraged.
One supporter wrote: "If Kylie Jenner eating at their restaurant and them posting about it drums up more business for them then I’m all for it. Thats great news. Wishing you all the success in your business."
"Beautifully said! People need to touch some grass, a restaurant was highlighted because someone famous came visit bringing them publicity," commented another. "Whether you like her or not it’s an experience to have someone famous sit and dine at your restaurant."
Jenner herself also shared a glimpse of the visit on her own social media, posting a photo of her and longtime friend Anastasia Karanikolaou enjoying a meal by the harbour.
Tassia Restaurant is known for its traditional Greek cuisine and prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients. The owners grow most of the vegetables themselves, offering home-style dishes with a focus on freshness and authenticity.
Jenner isn’t the only celebrity to stop by the well-known eatery. In 2022, actress Demi Moore also dined there. At the time, the restaurant posted a similar tribute, praising Moore’s “timeless beauty and solid personality” and calling her visit “bright enough to capture our hearts.”
The visit to Greece came shortly after Jenner skipped the wedding of her half-brother Brody Jenner, who tied the knot in Malibu.
Reports say Kylie and her sister Kendall also missed Brody’s previous commitment ceremony in Bali back in 2018, though sources told TMZ there is “no bad blood” and “mutual love” remains between the siblings.
The sisters were reportedly hoping to “keep the spotlight on the bride and groom.”
