Riverdale actor, Lili Reinhart, has taken to Twitter to issue an apology for posting a "tone-deaf" photo to social media.

On Tuesday, Reinhart shared a topless photo she posted of herself in an effort to bring awareness to the death of Breonna Taylor.

Twenty-six-year-old Taylor, an EMT, was killed after officers forced their way inside her home on March 13, as part of a narcotics investigation. A subsequent lawsuit filed by Taylor's family claims that the officers were not looking for Taylor or her boyfriend, but for a suspect who was already in police custody.

In the photo, which has since been deleted, Reinhart can be seen posing topless beside a lake in California. Per Page Six, the photo was captioned: "Now that my sideboob has gotten your attention, Breonna Taylor’s murderers have not been arrested. Demand justice."

The 23-year-old has taken to Twitter once more to apologize for the offending post.

"I’ve always tried to use my platform for good. And speak up about things that are important to me. I also can admit when I make a mistake and I made a mistake with my caption. It was never my intent to insult anyone and I’m truly sorry to those that were offended," she wrote.

"I’ve tried very hard to be honest on my IGTV lives that I’m still learning and trying to be better. But I understand that my caption came off as tone deaf. I truly had good intentions and did not think it through that it could come off as insensitive."

Reinhart has been a vocal advocate of the Black Lives Matter movement, following the May 25th death of George Floyd.

Last month, she wrote on Twitter: "I want to say that I am ashamed of the racism that exists in this country."

"We are taught to look at our police officers as helpful and friendly when we learn about ‘leaders’ in elementary school. Our ‘leaders’ have failed us today," she added. "I can’t begin to imagine the horror of worrying that you won’t be protected by your “leaders” because of the color of your skin. I know that white privilege exists and I could never fully understand what it’s like to be oppressed because of my race."
