Lindsay Lohan's dad has spoken out after the actress expressed disappointment towards a particular joke in the new Mean Girls movie.

It was reported earlier this week that Lohan - who famously played Cady Heron in the 2004 Mean Girls movie - was left "very hurt and disappointed" by a joke in the recently released musical.

In the updated cult classic - which features a brief cameo from the 37-year-old herself - one of Cady's (played by Angourie Rice) outfits is apparently referenced with the line "Y2K fire crotch is back" by rapper Megan Thee Stallion during a scene.

The line occurred during a scene with a social media montage where Megan comments on Cady's Christmas-themed talent show look - and it has stirred up emotions.

The remark is an infamous 2006 quote from music manager and oil heir Brandon Davis about the Parent Trap actress, in which he branded her as a "fire crotch" several times during a night out with Paris Hilton - who was publicly feuding with Lohan at the time.

As well as calling the actress the cruel term, he disgustingly asked: "Who would want to f*** her?" which earned laughter from Hilton.

As the pair garnered backlash for the video, Davis eventually apologized for his "inexcusable" comments, saying: "What started out as a joke got completely carried away, I am horrified at the words that came out of my mouth," per E! News.

So, it’s unsurprising that the Freaky Friday actress's representatives said she was unhappy when the controversial term was mentioned in the new film. And now, Lohan's dad, Michael, has confided his thoughts about the crude comment in a recent interview with TMZ.

Speaking with the outlet, the 63-year-old described the jab as "disgusting," while admitting that he's "p**sed" about the entire thing.

He purportedly noted that he will not be watching the movie, stating: "Nobody can replace Lindsay or the original cast in that film," and also added on Instagram: "Maybe they should think again about recasting [iconic] roles."

Tina Fey reprised her role as Ms. Norbury in the remake and is also the screenwriter and producer alongside Nell Benjamin.

The 53-year-old Saturday Night Live alum opened up to Entertainment Weekly about making Lohan's cameo happen, sharing: "Paramount was like, 'Can you get any of the original ladies?' And I was like, 'I can't fit five people in.'

"I felt like if I could only get one person as a surprise, the original movie is really Lindsay's movie. As great as they all are, she's the heart of that movie," she continued.  "And I thought, well, what could she do? I didn't think [she should] play a teacher.

"I was trying to think of something that you wouldn't expect. And just to have her do that late in the movie, it also feels like it comes, I hope, at a time where fans weren't expecting one more little surprise. It also lets her be smart, which Cady is," she added.

Rice, 23, told PEOPLE that sharing screen time with the Falling For Christmas star "meant so much to me," adding: "It is such a rare experience to really get in the head of a character and then meet someone who's done the same thing. Just to have that shared experience, it means a lot.

"Sometimes acting can be a lonely job. You get in the head of a character and then you have to say goodbye to it, and you feel like you've abandoned it," she said. "But to know that Cady has been a part of so many actors' lives and so many actors have delved into that character - she's bigger than the actor in a way. It means a lot that I get to share that with so many special performers, especially Lindsay."

The remake has proven to be a box office success in the US, amassing an impressive $33 million during its opening weekend.

Mean Girls is available to watch in theatres now.
