When I was a teenager (in the very distant past) there was one subculture which was ubiquitous in high school: emos. Yes, looking back it seems pretty cringeworthy, with the skinny jeans, the long fringes, and the music which seemed to turn morbid introversion into a fashion statement.

But hey, being an emo kid was no different than any of the other subcultures which teens have engaged in over the decades. Nevertheless, it's been a long time since the heyday of the emo look.

Watch Logan Paul floor his opponent in the boxing ring:

Which makes it all the more bizarre that famed YouTube Logan Paul (who has always had a vlogger's fetish for bandwagons, trends, and fads) appears to have regressed to the year 2008, and was seen sporting an emo fringe, makeup, and lip piercings in his latest video.

Logan was apparently inspired to cosplay emo after he pierced his nipple as part of a forfeit for losing a race. In that video, Paul states: "All my boys are making fun of me for my nipple, but I got an idea. We’ll see who’s laughing now. You’ve all seen the memes, but the emo man in this viral picture is actually not me… until today."

Using an image of as an example of the look, Paul shaved his beard, covered his face with foundation, and painted thick, black lines around his eyes. He also donned a heavy black wig and a lip ring, and waited on the arrival of his friends.

He also took to his official Instagram and Twitter accounts, to post a side-by-side comparison.

As you can see, Logan's fans were impressed and disturbed by the stunt in equal measure:

Paul's pals seemed to be totally horrified by his makeover, but the title of the video ('Goodbye Logan Paul’) seems to imply that Logan's new emo look might well be here to stay.
